“Turns out Chris is good at stuff”. Well, he reads books ya know.

The Fans and the Furious, Cambridge Drift.

Instead of mutually assured snow destruction, you should have gone for "the cold war".

I like how here Tom wonders whether he can drink on a hovercraft... then proceeds to serve beer on a hovercraft years later

Gary Brannan wanted to dress up like The Doctor for a hovercraft chase? This is why Gray Brannan is my favourite Gary Brannan.

“If they can’t fly, they can duck”

Some linguists believe this is how ducks got their name

You can see Tom's mind working towards selling alcohol from a hovercraft but he wasn't quite there. It's kind of beautiful in it's own little way.

My assessment as an observer: Chris definitely seems like the kind of person who "gets it" when it comes to practical activities. Whereas Tom and Matt are a little nervous, and Gary knows the details academically but translating them into practical is hit-or-miss.

So, when is the footbal match ?

Riding a hovercraft into Central London would certainly spice up the commute! --Matt

No bump?
Why it's almost like you're floating on air!

Actual footage of Tom beginning to get the idea for the hovercraft pub.

'Slaves to Inertia' are a metal band I'd listen to

Or, you could say you were "on air" for 20 minutes

My hovercraft is full of Lees!

Was this practice for the inevitable Sark Island match?

Our town drunk and tree surgeon was once arrested several times for being drunk in charge of a bicycle. But he was towing a 30ft ladder. Through the town.

"It has a motor and it's a vehicle"

Please wait for Tom Scott to respond

Ah hovercraft, the gnocchi of the vehicles.

Chris did look an absolute natural on the hovercraft, I'm guessing that is because he drives a lot of quad bikes at work, doing his park ranger-ing. Water jet-pack-things? Oh lordy, that means we get the delights of Gary Brannan in his Speedos.

Hovercraft are a great subject for videos though, from the "invention" by Christopher Cockerell, through the epic 1960s SRN-4s which were up there with other amazing contemporary UK things like the Hawker Harrier, Concorde, TSR-2 and Fairey Rotodyne, to the modern day massive US LCAC (landing craft air cushioned).
