In fairness, during the X games, we haven't seen a Reploid independence movement that wasn't punctuated by genocidal racial supremacy and/or didn't involve crimes against humanity (in the modern definition of the term).

Sigma was a robot supremacist with aspirations of human genocide and launching missiles into populated areas back when 'reploid independence' was his official reason.

Gate was throwing around digital bioweapons while talking wanting a world for only his higher-tier reploids.

The New Generation Reploids were wanting to wipe out humans and old generation reploids, and how much of a choice they had becomes an issue because the description of their immunity to viruses can be analogous to a computer with a really good virus detection software and very enthusiastic use of backups to revert any changes caused by viruses, which is all well and good until you pick up on the part where Sigma mentions how he included his DNA in the NGR production models, meaning the backups are corrupted to begin with (which is why Axl can't be turned like the other NGRs, his 'backups' don't include Sigma's code).

When Repliforce was declared Maverick, they were the primary suspect in a city-scale massacre as their troops and equipment were seen to be involved and whose suspicion they were not only not cleared from, but whose investigation they committing insubordination to actively stonewall, and whose independence movement involved numerous warcrimes like the deliberate targeting of civilians (Storm Owl, the multiple cities they occupied), the forced displacement of multiple population centers (the space colonies, including Colony Eurasia), and the outright destruction of a city (Jet Stingray) (and that's not even counting how their ineptitude nearly destroyed the planet after they let their planet-destroying superweapon get hijacked by Sigma).

And the Giga City Rebellion kicked off with the ethnic cleansing by forced population removal of the human population, along with enslaving and torturing to death political dissidents in death camps and plans to unleash a chemical weapon of mass destruction that would spread across half the planet the effects of a substance that killed or drove murderously insane all but one of the test subjects.

Its crazy to realize how much lore inafune and the devs packed into these 16 bit /32 bit platformers. It gives us sometbkng to discuss and dissect even to this day. 20+ years later

Why do so many people get Lumine's name wrong when they pronounce it? If you've ever played Mega Man X8, you would know that his name is pronounced "Loo-min-ay" not "Loo-mean" Also, Dr. Doppler was a Maverick the betrayed Sigma, upon his defeat as well. Of course, Dr. Doppler was originally good before Sigma corrupted him with the Sigma Virus and forced Doppler to create an ultimate battle body for Sigma, but when X defeating him in battle, like Zero in X2 (if you fight him) and in X5 when you may also fight Zero, Doppler comes to his senses and is no longer Maverick. In fact, depending on how you play through X3, Dr. Doppler helps X at the end of X3 by sacrificing himself to stop (or rather "try" to stop) the Sigma Virus by absorbing it into his body with an anti-virus. And I say Doppler "tries" to stop the Sigma Virus in X3 is because he obviously fails as the events of X4-X8 shows Sigma is still alive and well.

With so much violence and chaos that are the Maverick Wars, I wonder why there weren't any human factions that want all Reploids gone or have tried to eliminate them all.
