What does your channel name mean? I picked "Plant Based Bride" for my blog when I started it back in 2015 as I was starting the process of planning my vegan wedding and wanted to document it. I have been vegan for 13+ years and married since 2016! The name stuck and here we are 😂

there’s no quick fix for grief brain fog. honestly the fact that you’re able to read at all is incredible. it’s a fog that slowly lifts over time and all you can do it wait it out and be gentle with yourself in the meantime ❤

I would totally watch a 5hr vid from you. I love how you speak about books and are willing to think things through and share those thoughts so eloquently. Also really enjoy the overal composition and vibes of your video's. Feels like sharing a day or reading with a friend and having bookclub together afterwards haha. Thank you for these and all the effort you put into them despite life giving you a hard time lately.

I usually watch every second of your videos even if I haven't read the book because I recognize that I (unfortunately) can't read every book before I die, but after seeing your initial reaction to My Cousin Rachel, I had to skip the whole review. I knew the twist for Rebecca before I read it and I won't let it happen with this. I'll be back to watch that section after I read My Cousin Rachel because you absolutely sold it to me in those few seconds!

5:05 I definitely recommend keeping the Poe anthology and returning to it when you’re in the mood. I love Poe, but I would never want to read his whole collection straight through. That’s a big bite!

My grandpa died recently and can I just take a moment to thank you for being open about how your grief has affected your reading habits? My grandpa was an English professor and he loved books so much - even the more modern ones like the Divergent series - but I can’t get myself to pick up a book since he died. I haven’t even been able to get myself to read fanfiction 😅 I just keep staring at walls or trying to keep my hands busy. But I’ve enjoyed watching your videos for years and it’s so reassuring to me that I can get going again but it’s okay to need to take breaks.

My grandmother passed away about a month ago, and I’ve really struggled to read ever since. Your videos have been such a comfort and make me actually want to pick up a book again. Off-topic but I like the way that you talk about grief. I am also an atheist and I recently lost my grandma. Who’s very close to me and I am having a hard time with the fact that I don’t believe she went anywhere. I would like to believe in my heart that she went to a better place. So that’s a bit of a recent struggle of mine.

For the romance book, let me just say that I hated when I got in my first relationship and my partner could not read my brain and knew exactly everything I wanted. It was quite a bummer.hahaha

I'm not sure if anyone has spoken on IVF yet. Everyone's experience is different but I can say that IVF has made me feel so weird and un-sexy. You aren't allowed (medically) to have unprotected sex (and sometimes required to be celibate) but beyond that, the hormones you're injecting yourself with are sometimes painful and mess with your brain chemistry. There is something to having a small intimate moment with your partner if they are the one helping you with injections but many in the IVF community report being celibate for a majority of the IVF journey simply due to physical fatigue, emotional fatigue, grief (you are constantly being asked to take pregnancy tests to be sure you aren't pregnant) and hormonal body changes. It sounds like the author of Lost & Found either has neither been through IVF nor been close to someone open enough with them to share about the IVF experience. It's a shame because it would be delightful to find some IVF representation in popular media as infertility still feels rather taboo whether you end up with children or not.

I personally love romance for its predictability, hightened reality and tropes. The way I circumvent reading about more harmful tropes or boring books is by only reading LGBT+ romances. Not having a hetero couple already gives tropes its own spin on its own and on top of that most LGBT+ romances are own voices and reading romances from this POV leads to much less harmful tropes imo.

I read Death Valley at a time where I wasn’t grieving, and it also fell flat for me. Your description of the MC and narrative running away from themselves/the point is spot on. It felt disconnected to me in a way that didn’t work.

As someone with ADHD I can relate to your reading struggles. I go through small reading slumps frequently, but the worst thing I could do is force myself to read more because that will only make it worse. Hope that reading for you does the trick, it's interesting to see how we all deal with these issues differently.

About Death Valley, if someone was to say to me that I should find comfort in the fact that my loved one is still here because of the law of energy conservation I think I would just hit them! It’s an incredibly insensitive thing to say even with the best of intentions.
