I think you may have misspoken, Montka is Priority Assets post MFM? It was previously Purge the Foe?

I really like big Vespid units in 11th. Being able to deep strike and position them on a building or other elevated terrain(plunging fire+cover), close to Shadowsun(reroll 1s to hit), and suddenly a lot of their firepower will actually hit. Where an opponent thought they were going 1vs1 in terms of unit engagements, it is suddenly a 2vs1 or 3vs1.
For 115 pts, they have a lot of firepower. Even if you take the special weapons, you still have 14 shots from the Neutron Blasters, which has a fairly similar profile to Missile Pods(lower strength, better AP). To get 12 Missile Pod shots from a Fireknife team, you need to pay 130 pts. Yes, you also get the benefit of gun drones, but the Vespids also have the Neutron Grenade launcher(great for anti-infantry), the Neutron Rail Rifle(good for elites and can also hurt some vehicles and monsters fairly reliably) and the flamer(decent anti-chaff), which more than makes up for it in my opinion.

Quite a glasscannon unit(T4, 4+ save, but only 1 wound), but if you are using the auxillary detachment, you can potentially shoot while keeping them hidden. Cover also helps them quite a bit in general.
Or you can simply allow them to blast an enemy, and take the return fire on the next turn, as for 115 pts, it will usually be a good trade.

In Kauyon, if they are still functional by turn 3, they can do a steady amount of damage, while they rapidly clear sections of the board, easily taking out wounded elements.

Another combo I enjoy, is a Pathfinders with Rail Rifles, joined by Darkstrider. 145 pts(after the recent points nerf) with a lot of firepower. Having Rail Rifles wounding most vehicles and monsters on a 3+ or 4+, while the Carbines(26" range with drone) wound most infantry on a 2+ or 3+, which makes them a fairly consistent. Especially in AAC, where you can sit in a building and stay hidden, while shooting at anything that pokes out. And you deny enemy reinforcements, thanks to Darkstrider.

Also, since I am using a Ghostkeel with the Fusion Collider, I can field it cheaper than I could in 10th(150 rather than 160), so I am very happy there.

Kayoun + experimental is also a really good option as well

and finally GW make those TAU battlesuit have hands rather than hardpoints.
yes,they have hands,not hardpoints.

Only thing with breachers they need a devil fish, 10” is so restrictive, especially with all the reactive moves and surge moves about

I think you should include a profile for C'tan as well. A lot of the community doesn't know how to efficiently deal with them.

It's interesting seeing what was considered best going into terminators when just looking at damage and point cost. I have used the Ion Riptide to deal with them since late 8th edition due to the survivability, speed, and range. When you bring in those outside factors it becomes a nightmare for the sluggish terminators that are getting one shotted by most of what the riptide puts out. The point increase for sure pushed the ion tide off of this chart.

Some things here for special rules can change some stuff too. Specially stormsurge hitting on 2s with heavy or plunging fire plus guiding. With titanic units being able to shoot and do actions, you can have units that get utility, offense, and defense in an albeit expensive package. Plus the crisis suits with flames being able to fire overwatch at full efficiency. This is still very helpful for some solid efficiency measuring though, very helpful video.

Glad to see new loads in the channel :)

Thanks for running the numbers!

Thanka for the video. Really interesting!

Are you looking at the most cost efficient unit sizes ? I ask because I am surprised that 2 model missile broadsides (12 str7 shots twinlinked, 8 str5 twinkinked and 8 str7 drone shots for 160 points) does not beat missile fireknives (12 reroll to hit str7 shots and 6 reroll to hit str5 drone shots for 130 points) against infantry apart from the weakest low toughness and save infantry for which they are still quite close.

Twin lance no where to be seen 😂

man i can't wait for our codex.. the little amount of detachments we have makes army building so boring in 11th as Tau.. meanwhile some army like guard and eldar which are both performing poorly can still have so much variety in their army building..

Thanks for the video.  Its nice to see both Burst Starscythes and Plasma Fireknives jump up the list.

I wonder if its worth considering some of our units that get a discount on the 2nd model or going to a full unit ?  I'm thinking Piranhas and Vespid.  You sacrifice the utility of having two units but increase the firepower per point spent, eg. 2 Piranhas drops the average cost per model from 65 to 55,  taking a full squad of 10 Vespid drops the cost per model from 14 to 11.5.

Retaliation being 3 really sucks. I dont have many aux troops so I'm basically stuck now to 2 detachments since i dont wanna wait till T3 for kauyon.

This kind of math hammering could/should always put into perspective that some units are not optimized for killing stuff.

I especially think about ghost keels, ghost suits and piranhas here which imo are important for zoning.

I was about to comment that Mont'ka had Purge the Foe, not Priority Assets.

Alright for mont'ka lethal hits are HYMP ever better than Rail broadsides?

As a Tau player - I dont really think the point changes were a nerf.

Twin Lance is too much now though. That was unneccessary.
Riptides were already beginning to be phased out due to the earlier points change. So this was just another nail in the coffin.

Ghostkeel WENT DOWN 10 points from 10th. This great. You dont take him for damage, you take him to annoy the opponent. So Im saving 20 points on my list.
Broadsides with HRR is down 10 pr. 2.
Farsight down 10

My list went down by 40-50 points.
