At @Iamarwa African Village, I met a 98-year-old grandpa whose story is hard to forget. 💔
He is 98 years old. He has 16 kids and more than 50 grandkids. For years, he gave his time, strength, and life to make sure his children had a future. His children have land in his compound, a place he helped build and protect.
But now, at 98, life has become very hard.
He can no longer work as he once did. He cannot go out and look for food. He cannot do many of the things he used to do. His home had become a painful place to live. The house was dirty and badly affected by termites. His toilet was in very poor condition. Basic things that many people take for granted had become a daily struggle.
Most of his time was spent outside, sitting and waiting. It was painful to see a man who had spent his life helping his family now facing his later years with so little help. 💔
Then something changed.
A YouTuber inspired by @Iamarwa found this grandpa and chose to help him. He is not his son. He is not his grandson. He is not a relative. He was a stranger who simply chose to care.
After seeing the situation, he decided to show this 98-year-old man love, hope, and dignity. ❤️
He held his hand. He listened to him. He spent time with him. Most importantly, he made the man feel seen and loved.
People from different places can meet, connect, and choose to help someone they have never known before. One person can see another's pain and decide not to walk away.
The YouTuber is now working to transform the grandpa's home. 🏠❤️ The house is being repaired and improved so this elderly man can have a safer place to spend his later years. The work is still going on, and there are challenges, but the goal is simple: to return dignity to a man who has given so much of his life.
I also sat with him to understand his life, pain, daily struggles, and what it feels like to reach 98 while depending on others for basic needs.
His situation is especially hard because he can struggle to reach the toilet and may have to relieve himself where he is. This is not just a story about an old house. It is a story about dignity, age, hardship, kindness, and caring for elderly people.
Even after all he has faced, this grandpa still has a heart that wants to live, laugh, and feel young again. His spirit is still there. During our conversation, he even spoke about marriage and joked about finding love again at 98. ❤️😂
This video is not meant to judge his children or grandchildren. Every family has its own struggles, and we may not know everything they are facing. This story is about one human being who needed help and another who chose to care.
It is about love, hope, dignity, and remembering that helping one person can mean everything to that person. 🙏❤️
I hope this story encourages us to look around our communities. An elderly person nearby may need a meal, a safe place to sleep, a clean home, a kind word, a visit, or simply someone to hold their hand.
Sometimes help does not begin with money. Sometimes it begins with noticing, asking “How are you?” and choosing not to walk away.
🙏 If this story touches your heart, share it with someone who believes in kindness, charity, and helping people in need.
