I agree with everything she has said.. as a diasporan, majuu can either break you or make you .For you to make it, you really have to work extra hard to get to where you want...and even if you get to your comfort zone, there is always that mixed feeling of missing home & wanting to go back but like she said the way things are done here it's better you just stay and visit  home offten but still don't feel 100% satisfied.  Do I regret no... You just can't be lazy it's a cycle, and that's what people see and think we got easy, but nope!!  It's hard work!!

If Kenya had systems that are working nobody would need to go to any Diaspora nations. Kenya is a great nation BUT all systems are broken to frustrate its people.
I like the way Bilha narated her story. She is a beautiful lady bless her heart. Thank you Kagoni for bringing her

She's a very youthful and energetic woman.  I know she'll have a long career in the Netherlands.  I'm in America and what she says is true, people can work for many years even after age 70. As long as you have the energy, you'll get a job.

Netherlands 🇳🇱 represented🚲

Life in diaspora requires tough people too them that don't loose hope easily😊

The social life abroad, I mean family, friends etc is awful for any African because our cultures are very sociable. I used to travel quite a lot for work to the UK and Australia and we used to joke that  we wish we could carry their systems and infrastructures back to Kenya, and of course the pay, and keep our social lives. The truth is that it is very lonely, and if you are older I can only imagine it is worse because you are inflexible to try new things or even make new friends. My first visit to Melbourne, I spent one whole month not having spoken to anyone, I accidently met this lady at a bus stop, and when I saw she was black, I nearly wept with relief. Abroad has beautiful systems and infrastructures that look very good, but the price you pay is that you hardly have time to enjoy them, you have to work night and day, worse still, you might not have someone to enjoy them with, and that is why anyone who is abroad hungers for home, it is like a self-imposed sentence. She is also right, the weather is just terrible, you think you know what cold is, but winter is just depressing, like sticking your body in a freezer, it hurts your skin and bones, you have to dress in layers, not one big winter jacket. And also the racism or biasness....With this in mind, it is still a choice that you need to make knowing what you are there for a certain purpose.

Home is good. Out is good....depends on individuals

I have been UK for almost 4 years now and I have struggled to settle..at some point I was very depressed. It’s not easy coz you live a double life; on one hand you are grateful for the opportunity but on the other you miss the life you had back home. If I had an opportunity to go back with a better income I wouldn’t hesitate. The three things that stand out and I miss here is food , good weather and social life. I will agree with her if you are earning 200k you are good to stay in Kenya . Thanks Bilha for representing us 🎉

I live in Switzerland for 11 years now have 2kids other on way. Love it here but planing to come back and n future

Interesting interview. I came across an article that linked depression during winter to lack of vitamin D that you get from the sun.  That sun that you take for granted here in Kenya is responsible for your feel good vibe.

Hi Bilha eye opening interview. Love from Kìria.
