Hey everyone! I swapped out the thumbnail for a retro vibe. Which one do you prefer, the original or this new throwback design? Drop a comment and let me know!

One of the great comedies ever.

old is Gold, real Gold.

ROSALIND RUSSEL was simply outstanding as HIldy. Extraordinary screenplay by charless lederer ,,

The fastest-talking comedy in Hollywood history!

Great film. Rosalind Russell  was great in this film.

EXCELLENT MOVIE
Thank you

That’s how to make a movie. Timeless.

Loved it thx

Cary Grant was an Englishman, born in Bristol, UK and a gentleman 😂

nice

A black-and-white movie in 4K quality? Why go to all that trouble? Doesn't really add much. 480 would be more than enough)).

So..... ummm here I am!?!

"You can marry all you want to, Hildy. But you can't quit the newspaper business." Fast-talking pin-striped hot-off-press ace-reporter Hildegard "Hildy" Johnson (terrific Rosalind Russell) is no "doll-faced hick" at The Chicago Morning Post.  She believes in the “production-for-use defense” because“divorce lasts forever.”
Hard-core green-eyeshade Post editor Walter Burns (Cary Grant) is "wonderful – in a loathsome sort of way" as Hildy's ex-husband and ex-boss. Indeed, he now knows divorce "makes a fellow lose all faith in himself. Almost gives him a feeling he wasn't wanted." Hildy believes Walter "should make some girl real happy ... Slap-happy."
Albany life-insurance salesman and Hildy's fledgling fiance, Bruce Baldwin (Ralph Bellamy), may look“like that fellow in the movies” although he’s nothing, if not "kind, sweet, considerate" when he's out on bail and out of commissions.  "Of course we don't help you much while you're alive. But afterward, that's what counts."
Afterlife is certainly creeping up on mental-case murderer Earl Williams (John Qualen) who faces noose in shadows of Criminal Courts Building courtyard. Sheriff Hartwell (Gene Lockhart) hounds “a lot of wiseguys” in the press about “aiding an escaped criminal and a little charge of kidnapping” while The Mayor (Clarence Kolb) would overlook clemency and "hang his own grandmother to be re-elected".
“I jumped out of that window a long time ago.”
Directed by Howard Hawks; screenplay by Charles Lederer, based stage classic by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur.  Breakneck gallop-to-gallows farce runs out of rope in roll-top desk hideaway.  "You argue with her – otherwise you're going on a honeymoon with blood on your hands." (USA)

One of my favourite films. Great writing and two real life friends blowing us away with their comedy timing. Please dump the AI image that shows up online. It's terrible and doesn't do Roslyn Russell justice. 🙏 💖

❤❤

The first Cary Grant movie I didn't really love. It was ok, but I didn't like the role Cary played in this.

This was my first Cary Grant movie. Some of his mannerisms were just hilarious. But I can't believe she ended up with him again. 🤦‍♀️ He was an awful person.

Too...too fast dialogues. Could hardly understand. But altogether it was ok, I guess. I like both the hero and the heroine....😊

Howard Hawks was one of the greatest directors of all time. He did many classic films, like Sgt York, The Big Sleep, Red River, Gentleman Prefer Blondes, Rio Bravo and El Dorado. This isn't one of them. It appears that Hawks tried to see how much dialogue he could get into a .90 film, much of it spoken very loudly or other characters lines. Plus having Roz Russell doing the gag several times where she's trying to have conversations on a couple different phones simultaneously. Annoying. Plus must of the film takes place in just one set, the newsroom. Cary Grant and Russell's talents were wasted in this mostly unfunny comedy.
