No joke this is the highest rated SMG4 episode according to IMDB reviews as of 11/7/25, beating out all the WOTFI's, movies, even "Who let the Chomp Out"

If only all Soccer matches were like this....

To this day, this is one of my favorite SMG4 episodes of all time.
It doesn't feel like it needs to follow a trending theme, it's a totally original dive into what SMG4's chaotic mind can create, and it DOESN'T feel like the title was created followed by an episode being built around it.

It's an episode that doesn't need new cute characters, SFM technology, or voice acting, just memes and a silly plot. A Total Classic. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Someone linked me this 'cause you used my mashup during the actual soccer game. This was the most random video I have EVER seen in my life, and I LOVE IT. SUBSCRIBED GOOD SIR. LOL!

People who have played "Wario Land: Shake It!" would recognize some of Wario's animations.

This is SMG4's Band Geeks. Getting most of the original classic-era crew against a competing team in a game of soccer is such a simple plot, but the execution is simply impeccable and easily among the greatest machinimas ever made, let alone for an SMG4 blooper. Every single visual gag is so hilarious in their own regard, the editing among his best, and the most important part is that it all feels so effortless and seamless. It has this sense of magic and organized chaos that utterly encapsulates why classic SMG4 is so fondly remembered by the people who grew up with his content around 2014 until most of the old-heads left around late 2017.

For the first time in centuries, SMG4 uses capitalisation and punctation in his videos. And is that good? I don't know. The lack of capital letters and punctation actually add up for the comedy...

Today marks the ten year anniversary of what is, in my opinion, SMG4’s greatest video. Really there’s nothing special about it on the surface, it doesn’t have the iconicity of Who Let The Chomp Out or Freddy’s Spaghetteria, it’s not an incredibly serious story like The Anime Arc or Western Spaghetti, and it’s not on the level of ambitious as something like Mario Simulator Interactive is. Instead, what it is is an excellent blend of a fun story mixed with genuinely funny jokes, a really unique cast of characters, and as a whole is a video that just oozes passion and fun. The soccer match itself is among one of the best sequences in the entire series, with phenomenal editing that, while yes it has definitely aged a bit as goes most of the editing in the 2013-2015 videos, still is an incredibly action-packed watch that combines the SM64, GMOD and the Sprites seamlessly to the point that it still impresses me that Luke wasn’t even an adult when he made this, the dude just was just great at his craft.

As the years go by and SMG4 becomes more and more distanced from its SM64 Machinima roots, i often think back to this episode and this era of the show. I am not one of those fans who blame Kevin for everything, he made some really solid episodes from 2016-2018 that I feel should be recognized, but with that being said, I can’t help but feel the series was at its best when Luke ran the helm himself. No Kevin, no other writers or editors, just himself. I’m often impressed by the consistency of 2013-2015, and I can rewatch just about any episode here and still have a great time a literal decade later. Smexy Soccer is the pinnacle of this era and what I feel represented SMG4 as a whole back then, pure and utter fun. The series may be nigh unwatchable now, but I don’t really care, because we still have these old videos around, and they are what SMG4 truly is.
