every year me and 7 friends go camping and play an 8 player 14 point game in the woods and its the thing i look forward to most every year

I backstabbed a friend in TI3 ten years ago and she is still bitter about it

I once convinced a friend for nearly 10 hours that I was only going to stay on Mecatol Rex for "one more round" - and then he could have it.  When my mechanized infantry started piling up on the planet, it dawned on him that I was never going to leave.

The funniest thing about being soooo excited for this game is that the more excited you get, the more impending dread all your friends feel knowing they will have to eventually indulge you.  I got an email telling me my copy is on the way and my friends haven't responded to a text message since.

I negotiated a border conflict into an alliance that turned into a friendship that lasts to the current day

I tried a 14 point, 4-player game a few months ago.   There were 8 war suns on the board.  It was amazing.

Wish I had four friends.

Quinns: “a hakkon destroyer approached our territory, invalidating the previous handshake agreement we had that you weren’t going to be dicks”

I love this writing!

I haven't heard as much shouting, laughing, and giggling in a game as when I destroyed a war sun with a carrier.

That national anthem is just golden.

17:36 Stalin rolls 3 dice. Stalin gets no hits!  Finland rolls 1 die...

"Until they tap out from a lack of fun to the brain." What a great line!

I've just had my first ever game of this today, loved it. Apparently though having a large fleet next to a neighbours border can't be talked off as a "training exercise"

The Nekro Virus has some binary code on it. I got curious and looked it up.

Not just a Space Lion on the box, also a sexy Turtle.

Having played 6 player games of TI4 twice now, I can say it's pretty epic. But, yup, be prepared to commit at least one whole day. The earlier you can start, the better. Bring beer, order food, and settle in for a long haul.

Pro-tip coming in 5 years late: when you buy Twilight Imperium, also invest in custom inserts, like Folded Space.

To say, 4th edition is worth the money. Minimal changes, it includes ALL the expansion races, it plays smoother somehow. It's better.

Your phrase "set aside a weekend and bring your pijamas" in the review of the third edition convinced me that I need this game. Nothing sounds more fun than having some friends over for 2 days to play games and eat junk.
