Is there not a VOD for day one of this?

"I fought everything" ahh yes i know that mistake

I started playing Valheim last fall, both solo and with group(s), best €20 I've spent on a game in MANY years! I've so far spent 660 hours and don't think there is any risk of it stopping any time soon.
I've also bought it for the kids and look forward to starting a world with them.
And bonus points for the "Ice Age" reference... 😉

You need to maximize your upgrades and collect extra resources from each biome before moving on, or else you'll be running around in circles constantly. If you haven't leveled up to handle the tomb yet, you shouldn't be in the forest at night

"Once you learn the basics" is true, it's just that every biome has new basics

Rule 1 in valheim is upgrade your weapons and armor at every opportunity

Enjoyed the video.  Pro tip:  Always have your Rested buff.  Carry enough stone and wood to make a campfire and sit down next to it.  You'll get your 8 min rested buff no matter where you are at.

0:57 This is the key.  Valheim is too big to rush.  You vibe in Valheim.  Its the only "survival" game that is designed for you to really "live" in.

LOVE Valheim, have almost 1100 hours in it (and about 600 in Enshrouded). As much as I like Enshrouded, I go back to Valheim over and over again, and with 1.0 dropping in a few weeks, am SO excited for the Deep North.

Enshrouded pulls you through the game and is great for a quick playthrough.   Valheim encourages you to linger..absorbing the atmosphere and deep rich scenery and rewarding discovery to unlock items.  I enjoy both but spend more time in valheim.  They are games structured very differently

Comfort level is not the same as crafting table level. You need to improve the crafting table by building the add-ons to the crafting table in the same menu you find the table.

That on the fly Ice Age reference was GOLDEN!    Well done sir, well done.

Play rested always, its a game changer. You can just build a fire and sit by it to get a fast bonus. Pretty impressive work dealing with 2 star skellie being this new to the game, cheers!

I wonder: If a Mum or Dad can spare not more than 30-45 min a day for gaming, does it even make sense to ask "how far can I progress in a game in that time"? Maybe a slow game like Valheim can offer a break from our hustle culture, from focussing on achievements. If I could only play for a limit time, I would enjoy a game that allows me immediate immersion to get the most out of it. Valheim does a good job here, I think. Music and landscape can directly pull you in, and the length of gameplay loops are rather flexible, with the day and night cycle giving subtle orientation. The player can freely decide how to structure his actions within that frame work. If you play the game just to finish it as efficiently as possible, you would miss out on a lot that Valheim has to offer. But if you play the game to have a relaxing or adventurous experience, Valheim can become a digital home you enjoy returning to regularly for a really long time. ;-) ---- Thanks for the vid!

Moats. Moats are your friends.  The Troll caves are too. They are good safe spaces once the trolls are gone.

Willybachs HD Valheim makes the game look incredible while maintaining the art style

The difference for me between Valheim & Enshrouded, is that in Enshrouded everything you do outside your base resets in 20 minutes, whereas in Valheim when you carve stone steps into a mountain, they're always there.  Flints and the stones you pick up respawn, but the big ones you pickaxe don't respawn or change.  But, you can dig tunnels in Enshrouded where in Valheim (without the voxelheim mod) you can only dig a tunnel if there's a giant stone over your head.  In both games, what I really want is an in-game way to make build pieces.  Rising World's blueprints kind of do that. My mark of a truly great build system is one where you can do groin vaults.

I have quit Valheim "FOR GOOD" many times! But I always come back.

25:48 the one and only SIV HD❤ brushy brushy solid tactic👌😉

Hard to get any sleep at night in the black forest ;)   Usually for a copper farm, i will build a temp base in a meadows setting close to a nearby black forest biome with at least 3 or 4 easy to reach copper nodes.  I do the same thing for swamps - you just get harassed a lot less when you build in the meadows.
