mossbag was finally sacrificed for talking about wisp thicket that says something

Regarding the Druid's eyes, the berries in Pharloom appear to either a) work as natural soul catchers or b) absorb silk through their plant. The drop berries in Verdania also give Hornet Silk/soul so is seems that there is a connection between the two.

To the Radiance-Lifeblood opposite I'd like to add that radiance hates void and lifeblood likes the void, because it appears in act 3 and it is in the abyss in the first game

@Sovereignmaps 1 month ago

0:56 quick nitpick but they aren’t higher beings. The old hearts are specifically sources of mortal power

I'll add that the Fayforn is most likely an ancestor of Crawbug and drapeflies/mites. Fayforn shares exact same body shape with these two species of bugs, and they are also only three types of bugs in both games who use their wings like birds, and not like regular bugs, and this imo hints at their relations. Craws are also far more advanced than any other tribal species of bugs like Coral bugs, or Bees, or Skarrs, or Mantises. These bugs live in, well, tribal society, while Craws (somehow) managed to achieve advanced work with metal (more advanced than work with metal in whole Hallownest!), have their own laws, judiciary system, moral code (they don't attack when she's resting, they gave her summons and leave her in peace) and also somehow have a way to resist haunting since the Crawfather and court of the craws clearly weren't under GMS's control even before act 3, and other stuff uncommon for higher being-less society. But if we assume that the Craws were made or born from higher being Fayforn, then their level of cultural advanced sudden makes a lot of sense

My theory on the burning bugs is that someone amongst them saw Grimm or witnessed the troupe somehow and either worship him as the father of the flame or are trying to emulate him. Like Grimm catches himself on fire, the troupe carries torches around, they both wear red cowls, not to mention the fact that you have to light a huge torch by igniting a flame to summon them in HK, it just feels so much like the Grimm Troupe that its hard to ignore.

20:20 silk IS made OUT of soul so yeah. pale beings have the power to generate a great amount of soul within their shells, and since hornet is part weaver she can turn that soul into silk! (the weavers, being elevated by grandmother silk had a similar power but in one of the weaver graves it says "once our silk has Wained" so it probobly isnt to the extent of an actual pale being)

I think it's more likely that the DLC area (let's just call it Pharloom Bay) is below the Pale Lake, past Bilewater. I think it more likely that a saltwater sea would be below the runoff from a freshwater lake, rather than the other way around. But that's just me being pedantic about hydrology, I guess. Also, that's where it was on the earlier maps, and it would fit better tucked in between Trail's End and Weavenest Murglin in Bilewater and extending eastward.
Now that I'm finally approaching the end game I can start watching your lore videos, and I'm really glad to see you're still making them. Well done.

The Aether Vivarium has a section on the Mosslands in one of her videos on the religious history of Hollow Knight that goes a bit more in depth on the reason why Druid's Eyes regenerate silk - and her theory is that the Mossberries are a very slight passive source of Silk, gathering it from the air (or corpses, or whatever). Thus the Druids pretty much offer the only non-hostile alternative to creating/recycling (depending on how you see it) Silk other than being a Weaver or GMS.

And I'd also like to shoehorn my theory on the Mosslands here, as the Druid's Needolin dialogue has a very interesting line regarding the heats: "and why not here?" Y'know, lamenting the Mosslands not having their own Heart. Perhaps it was the Druid's intention to bring about a heart for the Mosslands, a higher being of their own, but it was thwarted? Or perhaps even Unn originated from Pharloom, initially created the moss there and later moved to Hallownest (thus also explaining the Pharloom moss being far less vibrant and dense). Or maybe they once had a higher being of their own, but it has long been deceased and forgotten, perhaps even slain back in the times when the land was ruled by the Karak?

I think the wisp thicket people are somewhat related to the grimm troupe even if its indirectly/accidentally because they both need sacrifices and if you flip the mask of father of the flame upside down it will look a lot like the nightmare heart, also I think the reason why father of flame was in the top of bellhart because the place was round and made out of metal which is good for heat which is what the wisp thicket cultists are trying to get

Extra theory: I think the reason on why the twisted bud was found in bilewater was because bilewater used to be a very lively and green area just like shellwood which is the type of areas greyroots search for.

3:04 … that’s a new one for me lol

@Vyrtekion 1 month ago

If silk were a flammable substance, wouldn't the Burning Bugs remain free of the haunting? In the Whiteward, bugs were cremated to extract the silk within their shells. The Morticians' Needolin dialogue reads: "Holy, wonder... Preserved through flame...". I think the Lantern works similarly to Glowing Womb and drains the bearer's
soul to conjure familiars; it's not that the Lantern burns silk as fuel, rather silk (being a form of soul) can be used in spell-casting.

8:33 I dont know if sane is the right word

@JohnJohn-v7z4q 1 month ago

OUTER GODS?! That’s a cosmic horror term, as a self proclaimed cosmic horror enthusiast, I would know

@xxleoproxx7495 1 month ago (edited)

6:31 also! Every bug has Soul inside, but can’t produce them like the Higher beings. That could also be the reason, why the cultists burn themselves after a certain time, cause then they bring out every last bit of silk inside of them. Could also be used for the Silkfly theory, with them being the soul inside of bugs

@PEPPR-l4n 1 month ago

My personal theory on the Fayforn’s status is that she is simply an ancient creature that lived in the Mount Fay area but over time she began to be treated like a deity/minor god bc of all the sightings/bugs communication with her

The Moss has been acknowlaged!!!

@amberjack6 1 month ago

I call most powerful bugs "higher bugs" instead of higher beings, since theyre much more powerful than normal bugs but not actually higher beings, so the clover dancers, Karmelita, Khann, and other bosses like that
