(Apologies for spoilers) The reason why the Albertosaurus did better against the Spinosaurus is because the total dominance stats were increased from one of its negative traits. Adding on top of the Defensive Trait, this made the Albertosaurus' stats better than Spino's. Spinosaurus had a positive offensive and defensive trait, but the negative traits it got weren't the ones that increase the total dominance stats in the range of 15% to 40%. If Spinosaurus had gotten the strongest negative trait that increases its stats by 40%, then the Albertosaurus would've been on the floor.

I say this due to constantly making ecosystems in Jurassic World Evolution 2 and watching Sauropods just absolutely shrug off attacks by Allosaurus or Giganotosaurus because a certain positive or negative trait made their total dominance stats higher than that of whoever attacked them by 15 to 40%. Same applies to Stegosaurs and any other herbivores that can fight back against the large carnivores where basically whoever has the higher stats (or isn't weakening from starving) goes first and therefore has the higher chance to win.

My last edit as of now: Now that I have this game, turns out the total dominance stats are increased by 150-200% or 1.5-2 times. So it's no wonder why the Albertosaurus beat that Spinosaurus who only had its individual offensive and defensive stats increased by a certain amount.
