The Netflix dub cast were reading their lines with a script in front of them.
The ADV dub cast were reading their lines with a beer in front of them.

“You’re living in sin!” This is the best dub of all time

And of course, this dub gave us the gem that is "I'M REI AYANAMI, HOW'S IT HANGIN'?!"

I wish Netflix gave us the option to watch the ADV dub.

“You were staring at Rei’s picture weren’t you”
Several episodes later that takes on a very different meaning

2019 redub: Accurate translation of the original Japanese version both in terms of phrasing and overall tone.

OG dub: "dOn'T yOU TaLK tO Me lIKe ThAt yOU dUmB RoOkIE!", "Is she still so... loud in bed?", "totally awesome", "YOU'RE LIVING IN SIN!", "SHUT YOUR FACE!!"

OG wins.

My favorite dialogue from the dub:

“Rei Ayanami, was she the pilot?”

“Yes and it was Commander Ikari who rescued her.”

“Bullshit.”

3:12 It's weird seeing this scene and not hearing Asuka ask Shinji to do the Thug Shaker

I’ve heard someone say this dub starts at a 6/10 and raises itself to a 9-10/10, while the new VSI dub sits at a solid 7-8/10 the entire runtime, which is a pretty accurate assessment I’d say. This dub will always be better though.
