Ricardo does not treat DJing like a “job.” He is not “working.” He is having fun. I think his whole style is fantastic. He creates a unique vibe every time he plays.

Listening to and vibrating to a Ricardo Villalobos set is like sharing an extremely chic, authentic and local Chilean lunch, washed down with an exquisitely sweet and acidic millesime wine. His sense of electronic dance music is unique, because he doesn't play and mix techno house, he offers music, festive, plural, inspired music that he digests and makes his own. He's the only DJ I know who plays minimal and jazz, salsa and funk, samba and hard, soul and sex, alien and psychedelic. All the while chatting with his mates and twirling as if he were in a club. Note that I'm only discovering Luca Dea's work today, as he has an eye for capturing magical, indescribable moments that instantly take me back to those blessed days when I used to go to raves, festivals and clubs.
