I really like the teacher aspect for 80 in the early episodes, wished it stayed a little longer. At least the Opening theme is pretty memorable. "Ultraman 80~ ultraman 80~ he came to us from a star!~"

The best thing to come out of 80 was his focus episode in Mebius. That episode is amazing and my favorite of the team up episodes from that series.

I think the funniest example of how little attention 80 gets from the licensers is how he only gets to say "shwa" in the video games
Like he clearly has a range of usable vocalizations in the show and yet seemingly none of them were archived, so he constantly yells "shwa shwa shwa" in FE3 and such

Even though I love 80s first half the most, I can not help but watch the entire show every time because I love Ultraman 80.

The 80 theme song lives rent-free in my head. Glad I'm not the only one who finds it weirdly catchy.

14:20 - There's a understated history of female heroines in tokusatsu getting bizarrely discarded or undermined, affront and behind the cameras, with Yulian and Emi being good examples. As you noted, sexisim and a related fear of change would be good culprits, along with Japanese drama writers being as bloodthirsty as American ones, incapable of allowing characters to leave a show without body-bags involved.
