To understand the reasoning of Aldwych and Lud's Gate, you need to remember how much under stress the dev team was, because the publisher made them create a new TR title every year. That is also why the dev team killed Lara in TR4.

TR5 Red Alert is an underrated confusing part

The cistern is always weird

Clever decision not including TR4.
I think a top 10 wouldn’t be enough

TR2 is and always will be my favourite of the series there isn't a single level I don't like.
Thanks Gilo 👍🏻👍🏻

Thames Warf deserves an honorable mention. It is a great introduction to how complex the London levels will be.

I agree with every point. I played TR3 as a kid back in 1998–1999 and fell in love with it, but some parts were really difficult for me. Back then, we had a printed walkthrough guide. Everything was so exciting.
Now I have TR3 Remastered, and I remembered the graphics improving massively from TR1 to TR3 and looking amazing… Then I press F1. :D Oops, nostalgia… It looked so bad, yet somehow so good back then.
And yes, the Lost City of Tinnos, that room with all the switches… incredibly complex. And that secret… All I remember is dropping into the water, then having no idea where to go… something with a bridge and climbing down… I never would have found it on my own. I barely have the patience to find all the secrets without any help, but I still love it, and it’s awesome to know I’m not the only millennial who feels this way.

Thank you for doing this 2026. We are still here. I see you.

The cistern was intimidating for me at first, but became easy once i got started

Aldwych is actually my favourite level in all of Tomb Raider and in the original graphics there's a hint for the coin's placement. Also, the doors being random makes sense as you are trying to reverse-engineer a password from a cult. It's so good.

I appreciate that TR1 has a token entry, since it is incontrovertibly and inarguably the best entry in the series, but realistically the most confusing level - Natla's Mines - is less complex than most levels in TR2 and any level at all in TR3

I actually don't normally struggle with the kayak in Madubu Gorge. It's supposed to handle like it's in water. But there was this one time where I was trying to turn around, and I ended up going up a slope and on top of a platform, 5 feet above the water, because I literally couldn't turn around or back out

These levels were pains to get through, but I also think the y are apart of the soul of Classic Tomb Raider, back when the devs trusted the players grit and intelligence to get through. Before the regrettable invention of yellow tape and constant hints

What a surprise that it's mostly TR III 🤣 I agree with most of the list. I never found the TR II levels that confusing (or maybe I've just played it so often I don't remember the time I first played them), but there are so may confusing levels in TR III. A lot of that is to do with the fact that the level often looks the same throughout, so you end up spending a lot of time just getting your bearings. Great video :)

I remember watching my maternal uncle and aunt playing The Cistern and both being stuck for DAYS 🤣🤣🤣My aunt ended up buying a guide because neither she or her brother were getting much luck, and I used to be so bored waiting for them to find a solution😂

"maybe the developers wanted us to feel the pain" I think that's the point 😂they were so done with Lara that we felt that in the difficulty spike in TR3 and Last Revelations 😭Still, I enjoy Aldwych and Lud's Gate for the reduced amount of enemies and the focus on the puzzles instead. The Museum is beautiful in the Remastered and I used to be so scared of the trains randomly running and hitting Lara 🤣

Its crazy how easy and fast the opera house can be if you know what to do.

I have a toxic relationship with Aldwych. It drives me insane and I can't help but love it

I stuck in wreck of Maria Doria for weeks, but what a satisfaction, when i finnally manage to do it ( yes the Internet wasn'a as it is today)

I remember when a game magazine came with a demo disc of some of the games were coming out that year and one of the demos was Tomb Raider 2. The demo only gave you the levels : Great Wall,  Venice and Bertolies Hideout. Ive always played the hell out of the tomb raider demo. When I finally got the game for p.c and got to play some of Opera House, my mind was blown.

Omg Luds Gate made me want to cry. That beginning part when you need to jump onto the platform to get the embalming fluid but instead drop all the way down and complete go backwards but no way back to where you started to get the darn thing and now you just finished the level. PMO to start all over.
