i personally feel those black and white savage sword magazines were the finest art by Buscema in his career. It was simply amazing stuff

There has been no comic like savage sword. You read it in the 70s or today its still awesome. Its timeless!

As long as Buscema was the artist, i love it with all my heart!

John Buscema... Dearly missed. 😢

Thank you for putting this video together! Lots of great memories and incredible imagery in your video. It's an honor working on the new Conan comics at Titan. Our creative teams stand on the shoulders of frost giants and hearing that readers are digging back into the classics thanks to our efforts makes it even more worthwhile.

As a youngster, I loved reading Conan comics and the art by artists like John Buscema was awesome.

I'm generally not a comics guy, but I went on Ebay at the very start of covid and bought the entire run of SSoC and Groo the Wanderer.
...Zero regrets.

YES!  I loved every bit of this.
I lived to open the mailbox at the end of the long, country home lane of my childhood home. There was no wayto know if it would be there, or not, but I started checking around the 4th week, getting more anxious as the days drifted by.
When I opened the front of the box and saw my Conan comic in there, oh man, it was great. I would run to the top of the driveway and start fumbling through the pages, reading as I walked.
I spent days without end acting out the panels I saw on the pages.
It's never been quite the same, but I still read the series when I get too far away from life. CONAN RULES.

The SSOC was such a great publication in the 80’s. I inherited a small collection from my older brother and it really stuck with me. The stories, the art, the double page panoramic scenes were amazing. It was showing the reader a fantasy scale that I didn’t feel like I felt again until reading the GOT series. There was a brutality in the world Conan inhabited that made tensions run high. Good stuff

Jim Shooter was a legend and saved comics. He wrote a detailed way to save comics and what would happen if they stayed the course..... everything he said would happen if they didn't stop where they were heading came to pass.

As a big Conan fan of SSOC, I even designed the new logo for Titan [ a huge honor! ], this video of yours was a pure delight!  Thank you for taking the time to put it together!  Cheers!

The other comments saying this is a good video aren't even doing it enough justice. The amount of time and effort that must have gone into this video seems enormous, so many clips and images to be cut together and so many issues to go through, plus you must have had to take notes as you read right? I also get the sense that you're so well-read on Conan comics, and also have real critical thoughts and insights on what you've read, that you're probably one of very few guys in the world that could've possibly produced a video like this.

I usually don't leave YouTube comments but I think a lot about YouTube content, especially on comics, and it's rare that I see something that excites me this much. YouTube can be a great platform and medium because of content like this.

I hope you make a million more videos, dude!

Great video, i was captivated the whole way through even though i am not that familiar with the conan universe

Priest's stories were a welcome addition to the title. His Thor #370 is my favorite issue of Thor and one of my favorite in all comics. He just gets pulp comics, he's one of a very few that can step into the perfect tone, when he wants to write Norse mythology into a Western, he can do that, if you want to switch it up for a pulp tale of barbarity in Hyboria, he's your guy.

A great video on an even greater comic. I’ll be sure to watch your other videos.
I was 13 when I discovered SSOC in 1988. It blew my mind. I was hooked straight away.
I hunted down back issues and had an extensive collection. Sadly I lost them all due to circumstances out of my control.

Now I’m on the hunt to buy back my collection. In this digital age of distraction it is pure joy and meditation to sit down and read a hard copy of SSOC.
And they each feel like a captured sliver of time. Truly wonderful artifacts to read, feel, smell and admire in collection.
And yes the new Titan comics are very good. Jim Zub understands the medium and Robert DelaTorre is as close to Buscema as anyone can get.
By Crom may we all feast our souls  on SSOC until the next cataclysm.

I LOVED this magazine! My only regret is I didn't collect it regularly until the final months of Roy Thomas' long tenure! After that, the book tanked by becoming more "kid friendly", which was NOT  the target audience!

Loved this history of Conan ! Yes I've read most of these too I think 😅 ! Great classic stuff !

Really happy to see more and more conan content on yt 💪⚔️ waited for something like this, thanks.

Thank you for this video. I'm an avid reader and collector of Savage Sword and have read all issues. I was looking for a history of SSOC for quite a long time!!

Nice video. I was a big fan of SSoC in my youth. The more adult approach to the mythos made a lot sense and the art style was almost always next level.
