What an absolutely stunning a cathedral. Dara you really produced a gem of a video with icing on the cake being the drone footage. You both are fabulous cinematographers. I hung on very word Dara. What an amazing history. Totally enjoyable and riveting to look listen en learn. Travel well. 🇳🇱🙋‍♀️🥝💝

Sir Thomas Erpingham,  who led the Archers at Agincourt,  sleeps within those hallowed walls. He hails from Erpingham,  north of Norwich,  near the Town of Aylsham.  The Buttlands in Aylsham still remain,  although as a car park  (Buttlands are archery practice grounds) . So pleased you enjoyed yourself,  must get myself in gear and visit,  especially as there was no evidence of the helter-skelter they had installed some time back. Norfolk is a very quietly historic County.  The oldest legal documentation held in Parliament relates to Norfolk and wool. This is also the County that gave us Horatio Nelson.  Off the North Norfolk coast the remains of HMS Gloucester lay, the loss of this ship was probably the start of the Glorious Revolution.  The history of this County goes from the earliest humanoid footprints,  found at Happisburgh.  Nearly a million years old, to the fighting of WW2.  We the residents enjoy the history,  but its not common knowledge amonst the rest of the Country.

This brought back some happy memories! ❤Fabulous drone footage, Ian. Dara, you did a fantastic job of filming, narrating, and editing this video. I really enjoyed watching the finished product 😊 Best wishes to you both xx

Dara Green men were the bridge between religions .
When any
" outreach " work proselytizing,  people who were pagans ,
" heathens " had to be persuaded to set foot in a church .
So there were crossover aspects from the pagan religion so that people did not feel uncomfortable and eventually joined the flock and got baptised .
To get someone to give up a belief system accomodations were made .
The feast days of non Christians were incorporated into the church calandar .
So harvest festival would be an example of this . Dancing around a Maypole another .
The church used the solstice to subdivide the
Ecclesiastical  Calandar .
This then set up the University terms were set up to reflect this .
But the days of change from one term to another and they were begun on days that previously had meaning to pre Christians .
If this interests you .
If you have not already visited , then look into Meigle where the celtic tribes artwork was put onto a cross giving what we see if you say celtic cross .

That was so interesting, Norwich cathedral is quite the work of art. And the complex around it with the cloisters make it even better.

My home City and I'm very proud of it. Glad you enjoyed your visit. ❤

Greetings.

This is incredible. I love it and enjoyed watching all the way through.

Thanks for sharing so much of the interior of the Cathedral. Despite having lived in Norwich for 4 years, I never once set foot inside the Cathedral itself. When you are in your very early 20's it doesn't always occur to you to make the effort to explore somewhere like a cathedral. It's just there as a beautiful backdrop to your life!

Just gorgeous, Dara! And thank you, as always, for such great commentary and fascinating info. It certainly is an amazing example of truly mixed "styles" throughout Britain's history!!

Stunningly gorgeous!  Thank you for sharing your visit and all the very interesting details.

England as some of the finest cathedrals in the world.

Thank you Dara , an excellent tour!

Middle Ages 1154-1485.

I have sung here and my dad preached here a few times

Love Norwich! Haven’t been there for years. Must return before too long. I’m really enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing with us. ❤

Wow, the Norwich Cathedral looks great. I've never been but a friend lived there, I'll ask him to watch this video. Great work as usual, many thanks. Hereford Cathedral is also great!

Most interesting.  I had never heard the word misracord before, had to look it up.
