I haven't played for almost 6 years and my whirlwind spider had goliaths as side armor and hardened tracks in front of the cab. Interesting point on the radiation of heat though.
I think tank tracks like the goliath need to be buffed in general because currently they are useless for anything other than armor. If they buffed their perks, gave them better turning speed and accelaration, top speed too maybe, and just made the feature buffs cancel out when the tracks are not touching the ground would make tracks more balanced.
I believe if the movement part isn't touching the ground, it shouldn't allow any benefits from the part. Yes, there are a few already that dont allow certain benefits, but one of the main ones is dura. If this were to cancel out also, i think the track armor meta would stop.
Obviously hovers should be the only movement part that doesn't need to touch the ground. Keep in mind, you do have hovers too that use wheels as dura also 👍 if we are talking about balancing one thing, why not all?
Good content, great videos and awesome gameplay! 🤘🍻
dont forget other uses like in my clan we use them on bigram spiders to drive it onto the enemy heavy builds and utilize the wedge nerf to make them go super slow and just gang kill each heavy build 1 by 1 with helios and narwhal combo
Also had some thoughts about this a while back but I couldnt really think of any possible way of nerfing this, except cutting the dura in half when it isnt touching the ground Great vid anyways, also rlly enjoy the content lately
Funny how they wont nerf this so called exploit real quick but they were very quick to nerf tank tracks after I posted myself climbing a mountain a few years ago🤣🤣🍺🍺
Well i dont se a problem with it cuz you can just go around the piece of track and shoot the rest of the build plus it makes it slower its pretty much the same as having freight train bumper but with slight disadvantages
I wouldn’t call it an exploit tho 🤔 u still pay for the power drain, the top speed of ur build w a Goliath goes much lower than if u were to not have a Goliath, and the length of the Goliath is a vulnerability because a dog pushing against ur Goliath turns it into a lever in a way that u can’t rotate ur build and makes u an easy kill. unless ur on bigrams u can also shoot over the Goliath to hit the cabin pretty easily (or at least u used to be able to when punishers were hitscan). minus the sideways heather/mandrake setup I’ve never even seen goliaths used in the meta on pc.
and arguably the Goliath being used as armor is exactly what it’s intended for because of its height. Even on a traditional looking tank with only tank tracks, the Goliath is there to be big and sponge damage. It literally has no other purpose.
and the “giving mixing movement parts a balancing cost” was already addressed when they made it so u didn’t get tonnage from them.
also u are a highly skilled spider player who can actually move their spider despite the severe cost goliaths give to ur power. if u give a Goliath build to ur average player they will move TERRIBLY and it will be a huge detriment which I know from playing w more casual clans and watching ppl struggle to use Goliath builds/being better off without the Goliath.
