I visited the Summit Springs, in the middle of nowhere, and did a video about the battle. At the site are the grave of Susanna Alderise and a monument to the Cheyenne.

The Summit Springs battle happened on July 11th and Tom Alderdice was not at Summit Springs. He was in Kansas on the Saline River and didn't hear about Susanna's death until July 23rd.

An extremely sad but well done story. I want to correct you on one thing, Fort McPherson is not by Wichita, KS but is actually near North Platte, NE. I live about 40 minutes southeast from the site of the fort. Back around the same time period this story took place, we had Cheyenne raid some wagon trains 20 miles east of me in what was named the Plum Creek Massacre.

I really love this channel. I watch all of the videos, some of them multiple times. I'm always eagerly awaiting the next video. The only thing I don't like are ai generated images. I get the appeal of the idea, but in practice I think it is not a good thing for new students of the subject. Again, I love this channel and can't wait to see the next episode.

I live in a town that has a number of Southern Cheyenne... Some of them are still resentful of white people (particularly middle aged men) and are somewhat unfriendly in their interactions with white people here in town. These kinds of stories have been passed down through the generations.
