He rated his own frozen pizza as a 10... It was floppy

“Daddy long name over here-“
They say the most unhinged bs I love theorists

Ppl don't realize that taste is subjective bcuz they're such sycophants to media personalities today

He donated to a local family owned shop near me that was struggling, and actually saved the place. Now they're one of the most popular places to go out here.

14:52 "Instead you should expand your horizons to see what multiple influencers say and see what commonalities their reviews have" That's great advice that goes for learning/researching in general: the more sources there are saying the same thing, the more confident you can be about that one piece of information.

I've never really trusted influencers who criticize food, you should be suggesting WHERE you should go depending on where you are, "best bistro in NYC" stuff, not using your power to destroy lives, not to mention these same people usually rate EVERYTHING one star very publicly

Even in Dave's pizza reviews he says over and over that he likes one specific style of pizza so anyone who is basing where they go off of one guy is honestly just foolish.

Influencers who demand "money or free food or else" need imprisonment.

My friend owns a pizza place. His one bite review saved his shop.

Actually I honestly don’t know if this was because of Dave’s review. But a local pizza place I used to go had really good pizza. And he eventually reviewed it and gave it a good score, but after that review the place was overrun with customers. Good for the business they deserve it, but the quality of the pizza went down.

It's almost like influencers are a problem and we should stop giving them so much power and attention. I for one prefer to only follow channels that are aware of the power and responsibility that they hold. For example, the moment MatPat figured out that any theorists were causing real world people trouble while trying to solve a "call to arms" puzzle, he shut it down. To him, no video, no answer, was worth causing real people any level of trouble.

Pizzaria: Accuses Portnoy of being a Mafia
Portnoy: Responds with mob-like pressure tactics.
Logic.

keith lee is one of the few food critics i listen to. he keeps his orders anonymous, orders a variety of food, and will even go back to certain locations to follow up. Shops that go under after keith lee reviews are rarely caused by the food. more often than not it’s actions of the staff or owners.

David not only kept 1000s of pizza shops open during COVID but he’s brought so many dying family pizza shops who just weren’t getting any attention

It’s amazing how food “influencers” operate almost completely opposite from real food critics

I love that Keith, by his own morals, still sticks to the rules as close as he can

He gets multiple things and judges them all as objectively as he can "i like it saltier but this is a great ***" etc

He stays anonymous as much as he can, often others picking up for him, or disguised, both harder with his popularity now

He comments on conditions too, was it busy, was itempty and how that may effect the quality. Another big factor making his reviews so popular is commenting on more than just the food, the people serving it often just as or more important to him

Just a good dude who likes good food and good people. Love Keith Lee

I'm not sure an owner of a restaurant chain should be going around judging other restaurants. I can't trust that that isn't motivated in some way

@Galavantman 2 years ago

I watch one bite pizza. My main goal is to learn about new places. There was a pizza place 15 mins away from me that I never knew about. The rating and review I take with a grain of parmesan.

@Kira_Nakasashi 2 years ago

I agree with this 100. There's a chef I know of who always wants his food crispy and cruncy, and always says that a restaurant's food is not crispy enough for him, so he doesn't like it. But for me, who prefers less crisp in my food, I would enjoy it. It is only his preference that he's presenting, and is only valid for those with similar preferences.

Hearing the first rule, Was mind-blowing, not letting people know who you are judging fairly and not trying to get what you want, so you give them a better review? I cannot imagine a food critic doing any of that nowadays
