This is a short TSW 6 (also known as Train Sim World 6) film about a commuter who boards an ICE 3 (DB class 406) train in Germany thinking that nothing will go wrong, only for him to notice that there isn't a driver on board that train.

That's nice. Anyway, here's an essay on Britain's railway network:
The first train line (as we know it) was meant for freight and coal around the Darlington area, 200 years ago. Then, in 1829 the Stephenson's Rocket (the world's first steam train which you can still see in York) was built and was used on the Liverpool to Manchester railway. Over time, railways evolved and there were great engineers like Isambard Kingdom Brunel (who made at the time, the UK's longest railway line between London Paddington and Penzance), Sir Nigel Gresley (who created the A4 class including the fastest ever steam locomotive, Mallard) and Sir Kenneth Grange (InterCity 125 creator). Also, the Flying Scotsman built in 1923 first ran services from London Kings Cross station all the way up to Edinburgh with its fastest time being just 8 hours. When it finally stopped operating on the East Coast Mainline, it was almost scrapped until in 1963 Alan Pegler purchased it. In 1969, it was sent on an American tour which was the end of his ownership of the locomotive as it put him in a lot of financial problems, but it is of course in the UK nowadays which you can see in York and also it goes on a few railtours and heritage lines to this day. Many other charter trains run in the UK every year including operators like Locomotive Services Limited who operate The Midland Pullman, The Statesman and Saphos Steam Trains. West Coast Railways also run the Fort William to Mallaig steam train over the Glenfinnan viaduct (famous for the Harry Potter movies) and a few other charters. Belmond does very luxury trains including the British Pullman and Royal Scotsman.
The London Underground is the world's first Underground railway. It started with the Metropolitan railway, then the District railway and now there are 11 lines. The Elizabeth line, London Overground lines and DLR are not part of the London Underground although they are part of TfL (Transport for London). The London Underground has 272 stations with 60 of these being on the District line. The District line at one point used to go all the way out to Southend! The Metropolitan line goes all the way out to Amersham, 30 miles from Central London making it the line which goes through furthest out. The Bakerloo line has the oldest trains on the Tube network with trains over 54 years old!
The UK's railway network is still making new history with the Beeching cuts of the 1960s, some of the lines are being reopened like the Northumberland line which was reopened at the end of 2024 (with the last few stations being opened later this year), the Elizabeth line and HS2 (although the Manchester leg and whole Eastern leg has been cancelled and it won't be ready for a while still). Privatisation in the 1990s possibly made our railways worse, and it has significantly changed the railways. However, they are slowly getting back on track as some of the operators are being nationalised under the "Great British Railways" scheme.
In conclusion, the UK's railway network has a rich and incredible history, which is still ever changing to this day.

You do the best videos of the TSW series. They should become a parody for a tv show! 😂😂

By the way, I ABSOLUTELY agree with the idea that riding trains is underrated!
