I'm a little biased as hell because I genuinely like both more Star wars than destiny but damn this expansion was a treat my only complaint is that the final boss didn't end with a one-on-one Sabre duel but destroying nightfall station was pretty sweet
The only flaw with the sabre fight scene is that one of the combatants is Aunor "Let me collapse this building real quick" Mahal. She is literally Ikora's go to when dealing with Dark Guardians, and fights them on the regular. At this point in the story Bale is thought to be a lightbearer so she has no reason to hold back here.
Sorry to all the haters but Renegades was unironically such a fun and well written DLC. Yea it was crossover slop but aside from the first mission there were incredibly few references; it was just an overall extremely solid DLC. Bael was a good villain, Drifter had a good character arc, Blue was an absolute treat, Aunor got to exist. It was literally just great. I'm tired of people calling it terrible when it was so enjoyable.
I’m left with this question, how the hell did Dredgen Bael get his hands on a Praxic Blade? He probably got it off of a dead Praxic member and he probably executed him / her / it / they.
The fighting in these cutscenes are indeed top notch. I did like the fact that Bungie made something that’s genuinely scary to destroy. As well we have a plot that makes sense if you think about it but the vanguard aren’t in a position to help so that’s an issue in terms of writing. At this point we’re the ones who are doing the heavy lifting which isn’t bad but isn’t good writing either.
Renegades is a good mix of “Let’s collaborate but don’t make the franchises look mix so we don’t ruin each other’s reputation.” Kind of expansion, there’s actual stakes involved and it actually feels like a Space Cowboy movie rather than a purely Star Wars kind of expansion (in terms of budget or whatever).
Icl the only good part about that sabre fight was seeing how bael used stasis so creatively to directly counter aunour. Otherwise it feels really out of place imo.
None of these cutscenes feel like they're inspired by star wars but rather they've tried to make these cutscenes as close to star wars as possible with destiny characters inserted
