When I was in the US Air Force I was stationed in England. A friend's girlfriend was from Manchester and I loved listening to her speak. She thought I was daft!

As a Danish man who lived 1½ years in Salford back in the late 70's they even today can hear my Manchester accent when I'm speaking English ;-p

The vowel breakdown was exactly what I needed. I've been getting the 'u' sound wrong for ages, and the side-by-side examples made it finally stick.

As a Manc, I wasn’t aware of just how extreme feature 7 was in my accent until working with folks from abroad who can speak English but had never lived in the UK.

For instance, when I say ‘I don’t want to’ it sounds more like ‘A dow’ wa’ a’.

I stoodied(!) in Manchester and fell in love with the local accent so I tried copying it as best I could as a German-born student. On my ferry back home, there was a football game on the tv in the ship's pub so I got me a pint and started watching. Eventually, I would comment on the game and the person next to me noticed that and started a conversation with me. After a few minutes of talking he suddenly said to me: You are definitely a foreigner but must have lived near Manchester.. I took that as a great compliment and an appreciation of my efforts to pick up that accent while being an exchange student in Manchester. I am still fond of all the great memories I created over there. Thanks so much for pointing out the pecularities of the Manchester accent!! I loved to watch your video

Not sure why I stumbled on this video. I'm from Manchester and that accent is spot on.

The Manchester accent is so much more pleasant to my ears than that Scouse one.

“Ted”on end of word becomes “id”. E.g “Uni-id. “TH” at start of word replaced by “F”

I think this is one of the easier British accents for us Americans to try. I don't know exactly why, but it just feels easier.
