I wish more of my fellow Germans would realize how lucky they are to live in such a great country.

I myself as a germen never locked up my belongings in a public Freibad. I am not from a big town, so I dont know how it is there, but nothing ever got stolen. I am very glad that it is this way in germany.

I was recently talking to my daughter about how, all things considered, we're doing very well in Germany and we wouldn't want to live anywhere else. That's why we don't really understand all the dissatisfied and nagging people. Your video reinforces this feeling.

In Germany, one thing I really appreciate is the trust in everyday life. For example, when you’re at a swimming pool, people often leave their belongings unattended without worry, because everyone has a sense of looking out for each other.

From the outside, this attentiveness is sometimes misunderstood as 'staring' or being too serious. But in reality, it’s more about awareness and care for those around you. I find it beautiful that there is this quiet trust in society.

You´re perfectly right when saying that many germans don´t appreciate our country, its government and our society. For so many it´s never good enough. I too feel blessed that I am privileged to be born here and live here. Nevertheless, as I had been living in Ireland for a year and travelled a lot I have experienced many european countries that seem to be just as loveable and liveable.

Thank you for bringing these little gems that we ourselves overlook so close to us again.

Your reports and experiences really make us look at our homeland a little differently.

And yes, we experience it every day, and it's so self-evident that we often no longer notice its beauty.

I'm glad you and your family are having a good time with your mom. I enjoyed this video. 😊❤

We were fighting a lot for body acceptance in Germany and still are not there. But it's good to hear that we are on a good way as a society.

I’ve been to several beautiful freibad in Germany with my family and I agree that they are surprisingly inexpensive and are beautifully designed and maintained. Open air pools are not very numerous in the UK, probably due to the unreliable weather, but in Germany we found them even in very small places.

I also like our body culture. It shouldn't be frowned upon to have an imperfect body. I have a few scars and stretch marks on my upper and lower back and no one ever gave me a funny look or made a comment about them, 90% of the time I forget them myself

I am a German but used to live in NZ for a few years. Never had anything stolen from me. The house we lived in didn't even have a lock at the front door, so stealing was basically unheard of in the area we lived in.

You are lucky to live in a smaller town in lower Frankonia, where the swimming pool complexes aren't overcrowded and chaotic. In Ruhr Gebiet is has been getting more stressful recently, esp in bigger cities. I have not been to a "Freibad" for at least 6 years and ever earlier I'd rather drive 30 minutes to a small town than go swimming in my city (although we have some great swimming pools there).

You are GLOWING! Hello to your mum! I hope you are having the best of times 💜Hello from not far away in England 🌅

@peter-ei8xt 1 year ago

My entrance fee was €0.10 (twenty Pfennig) in the Ruhr region during the open-air swimming season in the 1970s. And it was free for steelworkers for recovery and it opened at 6 a.m. after their night shift. . So I went swimming five times a week, didn't hang around on the streets as a teenager, and developed a healthy body. I'm grateful for that today. But in big cities, there are certainly problems with so many people.

New Zealand English just sounds so sophisticated, educated and real. Love it! Greetings from Berlin

So tax money is really good invested giving people, families and some NZ grandmom's such a good experience.
And for real people watching other people's things at the facility, not on purpose, but enjoying the visit with open eyes, which results in the feeling of safety. Okay, for the money a lot of people plan: I'll need 30 Euros for buying food or gelato, not more, and keep the "big" money in the car or at home.

Sorry to see you giving a strange impression of New Zealand.
I have never gone to the pools or beach down here and felt stressed or noticed any screaming.
But I am really glad you are all having a great time together with your Mum ❤.
