Four universal rules of gun safety: 1. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. 2. Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy. 3. Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. 4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
Excellent tips for the newbies, you especially nailed it on the first two very important items on your list! And like you, we’ve seen some people, who think themselves as “experts”, (who think they know so much more about guns )are usually the ones breaking those same rules inside a gun range!🤦🏻♀️
Also check if your range has any courses. My local range has a few dozen. They do include Intro to Handguns and Intro to Rifles. They will 100% include range time with other newer people and an active instructor.
An excellent summary about the range etiquette and safety, a couple things to add - never look into a barrel especially when misfired - yes, I've seen people doing this, always leave the gun "open and empty" on the table or when returning - from what I was told.
thank you for this video - yes going to a gun range can seem a bit INTIMIDATING - I can no longer go to the outdoor open range as NEW STATE LAWS as of 2022 have outlawed it......
Safety first , love this video! I've been shooting for over forty years , but it never hurts to watch these videos for safety reasons. Thanks again . I could use this for training people I take to the range. So important safety.
Excellent information. I haven't been at a public range before. I've been blessed to shoot on private land, until now. This was just the refresher I was looking for.
As a fellow watch lover and new gun owner, this was really helpful. Getting ready to go to the range the first time and I think I would have messed up on a couple of these points including laying the gun on the table and racking. Thanks!!
THANK YOU for bringing up the "airlock". NOTHING shows you don't GAF about anyone else more than just rushing through both doors and disrespecting all the people who DON'T have hearing protection on out in the front area. Those people should be permabanned if they keep doing it.
All guns are always loaded. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. Identify your target, and what is behind it.
Thanks for sharing this!
