Particles are raining down on Earth from somewhere that shouldn't be able to reach us.

In February 2023, the KM3NeT detector, submerged on the Mediterranean Sea, detected a single neutrino, named KM3-230213A. Its energy was approximately 220 petaelectron volts—about 35 times the previous detection record—and its creation could not be explained by known celestial bodies in three-dimensional space.

This video will guide you through these challenges one by one: How can invisible particles be captured at the bottom of the ocean? How does 220 petaelectron volts feel like such a huge jump in our everyday perception? Why does the finding that "the source is not in the sky" baffle physicists? How is this similar to and different from past problems such as the Amaterasu particle of cosmic rays and the GZK limit? And finally, the theoretical idea proposed in September 2026: if primordial black holes have five dimensions, photons would be trapped while only neutrinos could escape. Finally, we will also address why the existence of the fifth dimension is not yet confirmed.

In COSMIENCE, we will explore the universal questions everyone has pondered at some point, without using technical jargon. Please dim the lights and listen quietly until you fall asleep.
