The safety bicycle was so good, all bikes since then have been quite similar.

I think you mentioned being surprised by 2005 electric bike, then said they have been around awhile.  As memory serves, we had electric bikes before the year 1900.  They were not a big thing until more recently.  Possibly that's just due to the tech improving enough to make them make sense.

If I traveled, this would be on my short list.  Looks awesome

Very cool history under one roof.
Lots of engineering and time went into each machine. So we can greatly appreciate what the museum does, and your awesome video showcasing it.
👍✨🚲

That bike with "double gearing", might have been for some speed run.  I saw something like that done, for a VERY high geared bike that set some sort of record.  The bike would be pulled up to speed, then rides by itself behind a fast vehicle with an air scoop.  A bike can go very fast that way, but it's obviously very dangerous.  The very high gearing only works due to being first pulled up to some speed.

Blown away during our visit. Incredible collection and well displayed. Only thing that seemed to be missing was a Huffy or Schwinn from the Little 500 at IU.

Some of these features should be brought back. Thats cogged shaft drive is awesome.

Cool historical place. Many pieces in there came from the shop I used to work at in Maumee. Great showing of 2 wheeled steeds!

Beautiful bicycle museum

10:57 I totally agree with your sentiment. I even wanted to buy myself a vintage Soviet bike (since they were the most avalible vintage bikes where I live), and spend a fortune on restoring one. I still want it, but I've found myself a more ready bike to ride - an Italian Montante city bike. It has the classic frame (most of today's city bike frames have different geometry), 1930s style chrome handlebar and vintage style pedals (both are terribly similar to those of BSA or Moscow Bicycle Factory bikes), Sturmey Archer drum breaks with break levers mounted backwards on the handlebar tips, and other bells and whistles.
I actually want the WWI and WWII style folding bikes to come back. Something like those from Italy, England or Russian Dux Boevoy folding bike.

Yes, the Pee Wee Herman Bike! That is so cool! Great vlog Drayton.

The spikes on the ice bike would be just as effective just barely long enough to contact the ice, if you fell and that wheel bounced off your body it would severely impale you.

The Schwinn family bicycle. He couldn’t give up control of the steering. I find that funny. What an amazing bicycle and an amazing museum.

Nicely done

I just got Schwinn VEGA hybrid bike it's beautiful smooth ride combining classic and modern technologies

Thanks! For doing this special. I LIKED THE OLD SADDLES!

Skirt Lifters......I worked with a few of those over the years 😬

Bagged an STC Super Trick Cycle in the late 80s  -  24" model WITH front brake  -  and people Either hop on it like nobodys' business , OR it slams 'em straight to the ground ... No in-between !
