For decades, German women were often portrayed as passive witnesses to the crimes of Nazi Germany. Yet women played an essential role in the political, social and racial system created by Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich.

They were party activists, mothers celebrated for producing “Aryan” children, nurses involved in racial-hygiene programs, secretaries who documented persecution, settlers sent to Germanize occupied territories, wives of SS officers and guards in concentration camps.

How did ordinary women become loyal supporters, willing collaborators and, in some cases, perpetrators?

Through historical archives, expert analysis and psychological investigation, this documentary examines the indoctrination and radicalization of women under Nazism. It explores how propaganda, ambition, social pressure and racial ideology shaped their choices-and how many later denied or minimized their responsibility.

From the League of German Girls and the Mother’s Cross to the Aktion T4 euthanasia program, the occupation of Poland, Auschwitz and Ravensbrück, Women of the Third Reich reveals a disturbing and often overlooked dimension of the Nazi regime.

A historical documentary about women in Nazi Germany, female complicity, Holocaust bureaucracy, concentration-camp guards and the machinery of the Third Reich.
