Which Pokémon do NPCs use the Least in Pokémon Emerald, and can you beat the game with only them? To find out, I went through each and every trainer in Emerald to calculate the rarest NPC Pokémon. And with those six, I tried to beat the game. Here's how it went.

I was surprised anyone actually used Chimecho. A bunch of people think it's a Gen 4 Pokemon because of how rare it is in Gen 3.

@PokeProfessorJoe Here's a funny idea you could try: Can you beat Hoenn (Emerald) using only Contest NPC Pokemon (stuff like Justina's Rados, the contest Gyarados). You would obviously need to give them the same nicknames they have when faced in Contests.

I'm kind of surprised that Huntail and Gorebyss aren't able to be caught in the wild in Hoenn. It's really a shame.

Clamperl has special interactions with the items it needs to hold to evolve into them (which also require trading) and you only get one of the two per playthrough. So it's weird to me that they didn't just let you catch them outright through fishing or diving.

Mechanically they're very different pokemon, so it would be more interesting to have those two as options. (Admittedly adding 2 additional Pokemon to the water types you can use 😅)

Beating the first 3 gyms with a team so rare that 5 of them were invisible and the starter was only visible due to them being a rival and you can't have epic rival battles without a rival

Funny story. I wanted a Milotic in my team in Infinite Fusion so I though i could get one while finishing in the rain in the Sevii Islands. It turns out it only available WAY post-league since you need to talk with a specific fisherman in order to find out where it is.
I just turn of the Randomized mode just to get one then turn it back off.

Technically before Steven you can get the claw fossil from Battle Frontier or the Fallarbour town.. can’t recall which but One definitely in the Ditto cave

I got a suggestion, do this challenge but using only the rariest pokemon featured in the anime, specificly the season the game is based on, so emerald would obviously be pokemon advanced battles season.
