Two rules for hourly HVAC techs when in school mid 90’s. 1) Always drive the speed limit. 2) Always time to talk with customer. This is the second episode I’ve seen where the customer needs to talk to someone. Congrats on actively listening to their concerns. A real class act!

Way back in the 70s my mom had a problem with her car not working and was just going to dump it, put it in the newspaper if anyone wanted to take it. She was ready to just take the bus to work. A mechanic answered the ad. Showed up for the car. Immediately realized what the problem was, saw the situation with my mom, left and came back a couple hours later with the part, fixed it and told her her car was good to go. She told him she didn’t have much money to pay him and he responded that he wasn’t asking for anything. Just maybe pay it forward someday. Decades later that still stays with me when i see people in need that i can help. Obviously can’t help everyone but if i can do it for a few bucks and/or just a bit of my time, it’s not even a debate.

I left a 10$ tip to my hvac guy and a thank you card and he wrote me a letter saying he’s worked in the industry for decades and never got a thank you or tip and that he appreciated it🎉

But I grew up always tipping anyone who came to the house to do work. HVAC, plumbing, any trade guy coming gets a $10 tip, a Red Bull and thank you card.

Dayum that customer is going thru a really hard time and is so humble and has had his faith truly tested, and he still is hanging in there and staying positive!!! Great video!

Awesome job helping this guy out. He may be in his 20s but deep sound he is still just a kid learning all the hardships as an adult. I can tell he is super stressed about everything going on in his life. This appointment wasn't just a repair but also a way for this young man to get stuff off his chest. I feel for the guy when he said it is hard to be the one asking for help when that is something you avoid. I'm the same way by helping others than being the one asking for help because I feel like a burden. I can tell this visit not only helped him but also will help him be a better man for his child and community. Keep up the work.
