I am seeing a confusing amount of comments about Silverstream, specifically the render I chose in the thumbnail. Is it a bad render, or something? Is there some context behind the render that I didn't get? Because I can change it if it's bothering anyone.
I think the idea that hippogriffs are pony-griffin cross breeds is that in mythology hippogriffs are horse-griffin cross breeds (hippo coming from the ancient greek word for horse and griff coming from griffin)
For body types, I have a headcanon that canterlot unicorns (twilight) tend to be taller and more slender while unicorns who live in more diverse communities (Rarity) tend to vairy more due to more gene mixing. Ponyville unicorns tend to vary more, being shorter and stocky because of unicorns having children with earth ponies more often than in canterlot
3:07 hippogriffs being half pony half griffon makes a ton of sense bc that's what they legitimately are in overall mythology, a creature that is half griffon, half horse
that episode where fluttershy becomes a model makes me think she's conventionally "prettier" than rarity, and rarity being relatively average is a fun headcanon with her whole fashion thing
Zebra and Donkeys are at least cousins to ponies, also being equines. The show does give us (at least) the Crystal ponies and the Bat ponies. From the comics we get the Umbrum (Shadow ponies) and the Thracians (an offshoot of the Earth ponies that can also use magic (at least some of them) but reject the value of friendship.
I can appreciate a video going over well justified headcanons that aren’t necessarily tied together by any specific themes. I’d like to give my input on each segment

Regarding the tribes, there’s technically a 4th tribe called the Thracians in the Feats of Friendship comics, but imo they’re kinda lame. Idk what their deal is, they’re basically just earth ponies that can use magic.
We see the origins of Changelings in the comics and they’re basically completely unrelated to ponies. The origins of bat-ponies is unknown, but we know that they prefer to stay secluded away in caves. And, as far I know, Breezies just kinda exist.
It’s kind of a theory, but I think it’d make sense for the first Crystal Ponies to have come into existence when Amore first projected her love into the Crystal Heart, similar to how we’ve seen non-Crystal ponies temporarily get crystallized, only, y’know, permanent.
The Umbrum/Shadow-Ponies are said to be the opposite of Crystal Ponies, but as far as we know, there’s no official genetic relation.
I’ve never considered the possibility of Kirin being a crossbreed, but I actually kinda fuck with that headcanon, it lowkey holds water.
And according to Tails of Equestria, the Hippogriffs are (potentially) the oldest species known to Equestria, or at least the species with the earliest recorded history. One of the first times they descended from Mount Aris was to stop a conflict between the Pegasi and Griffons.

In regards to Sunset’s age, there really is no clear cut answer, and the more I’ve tried thinking about it, the less of a shit I’ve given over time.
Incidentally, I also came to the conclusion that time moves 3 times faster in Equestria. I made a tweet about it a LONG time ago before I deleted my account (oops lol)
I’d still prefer for Flash X Sunset and Flash x Twilight to be as non-creepy as possible, so the way I see it, Sunset left when she was about 14 and spent around 3 years in the human world, making her 17. Around the time she left, Twilight was about 10, making her 19 in the first EQG movie. And Flash is just 18 (he seems like the kinda guy who’d need to repeat a grade).
That said, I also don’t think the portal “de-ages” or “ages-up” characters, per se. Instead, I think the portal just transforms the character’s appearance to resemble what the version of themselves in that world already looks like. So, no matter age difference, Princess Twilight and Sci-Twi will always look the same age if they’re in the same dimension.
Not much to really prove/disprove any of this tho.

As for the character’s body types, that’s what I’ve been trying to find out with my “Which Pony Is The Most Thicc” video that I’ve been struggling to work on lmao.
I don’t wanna spoil it tho, so all I’ll say is that what species/tribe a character belongs to really doesn’t matter that much. It’s mostly a matter of evaluating their lifestyle.
For the hyppogriff, it was a long standing theory that, before the 2017 movie, that they were rare crossbreeds between ponies and griffin, after they came in as their own tribe, it was mostly abandoned. For EqG, some theories goes that Sunset was indeed just at the cuff of adulthood when she left Equestria, but their might by time dealation between realities, so if 3 years had passed in EqG, given that Sunset won the formal twice at least, 10 to 20 years had passed in Equestria, unless ponies actually age a lot faster then humans. And you have to consider that the mirror opened only once every 30 moons, which which would suggest it opened every 2,5 years if their moon cycle is the same as earth. For pony/equine races there are probably a few more then we aren't aware of, but there are also the sphyncs and the windigo, and. For body form I would say that pegasis are probably the shortest, given their need to stay light, shy was portrayed as being slight taller and lanky as a filly; Unicorns are classily portrayed as having a lot of lanky deer features; and AJ is probably the biggest of them all seeing that her family does a lot of hard work and is part of their genetics; Pinkie Pie could be similar so given her own family background as rock farmers, is a lot plumper given how much pastries she tends to consume.
im not even a brony (once was a small child) but this is so interesting to listen to while doing commissions :) love the editing of the clips on the television! i like this style!!!
The reason hippogriffs are considered crossbreeds is because thats what they are historically.
Horses were thought to be the primary prey of griffons, so a hippogriff, the offspring of a griffon and a horse, were considered to be effectively impossible. Representitve of an impossible union. Which made it a powerful political symbol for the union of countries that were historically enemies. It popped up all over Europe.
I am not an expert, mind, but that was my understanding. Regardless of the specific reasons, i know mythologically hippogriffs were crossbreeds. So it would make sense that they were in the show.
with equestria girls it can be considered a time discrepancy because of different worlds, when sunset went through she was the pony equivalent of 19 (just about), meaning she would be around 30 when twilight meets her, but shes visually the same age as twilight, in the equestria girs side the portal also stays open for a full month, but in equestria itself its only 3 days, the portal and the worlds have a time discrepency
I wish for a series that continues G4 but is also a bit of a spin off, showing other characters not just focusing on the main cast, expanding the world further. Maybe call it "My Little Pony Friendship Forever" Some episodes could involve ponies, or dragons, batponies, kiren, deer, etc. Some set in the present, some in the past, some in the future, etc. Imagine... Episodes taking place during Celestia and Luna's foalhood.
Funfact regarding Pinkie Pie's body type: in the Gameloft mobile game some of her models are somewhat chubbier than the typical pony model. Notably her Edgy model especially.
It's really interesting to see especially since they would have no reason to change this for any other reason.
I think what makes a tribe a different species from ponies is whether they have a cutie mark or not. So species that don't have cutie marks can't reproduce with ponies, whereas unicorns, pegasi and earth ponies can have fertile offspring while reproducing amongst each other. So crystal ponies are still ponies because they have cutie marks, whereas hippogriffs don't, so they aren't ponies. Now I'm not sure how that logic would apply to hybrides of other animals and horses and whether they are a result of an interspecies reproduction between a pony and another species, but at least in the case of hippogriffs, they don't have cutie marks even though they have the hind half of a horse. So maybe not. The same also applies to Tirek, who is a hybrid of a horse and one of those creatures we see in Equestria Girls. And breezies technically only have the wings of fairies and bodies of ponies, but still don't have cutie marks. There's also the big problem of Saddle Arabian horses, which should be the same species as ponies but bigger and for that, I have no explanation.
But in my hypothesis, ponies, hippogriffs, breezies, windigoes, the sirens, dragonequi, centaurs, Saddle Arabian horses and changelings have diverged from the same common ancestor, which should've looked a lot like a horse and then the common ancestor of ponies must've then diverged from horses after they had developed cutie marks and from there they might have first diverged from alicorns after growing smaller and diversified into the four pony races that we now have: pegasi, unicorns, earth ponies and crystal ponies which are probably just a variant of earth ponies. The alicorns are the closest related to horses considering they are the same size as them. But it's hard to say how it actually works. At least with alicorns, considering they originally came from Skyrose, a completely different plane of reality, they might not have any role to play in the evolution of ponies.
