I refused an office endometrial biopsy. My physician then offered hysteroscopy and D&C under sedation in an operating room. No pain, no trauma. Office endometrial biopsies should be discontinued. They are barbaric.

Most women do NOT tolerate this comfortably and it’s barbaric that we aren’t offered more than a mild sedative for it. Everyone I know including myself who has had an in office endometrial biopsy is still traumatized by it. The medical profession needs to take this seriously. It hurts like hell and this needs to be acknowledged. I recently also had a hysteroscopy with light sedation and that was a million times better. I will never do the in office procedure again.

I've had 2 failed in office endometrial biopsies due to cervical scarring (stenosis). My hysteroscopic endometrial biopsy with possible polyp removal under general anesthesia is August 21st at a large university hospital. This will be my 2nd time. Last time was in 2020 where polyps & intrauterine fibroids were removed & a biopsy taken as well. I'm soon to be 52 years old, always bleeding with post menopausal hormone levels which have tested several times bleeding and not bleeding. One provider was concerned about a thickened endometrial lining the other was not concerned.

NEVER NEVER do this in office. This is barbaric. They are downplaying the pain.
Demand they do this under sedation and in the OR if necessary.
Patients need to advocate for themselves!!

Mam my mother got this problem and got her d n c done but the biopsy report only says it's proliferative endometrial hyperplasia nd it does not tell it's with or without atypia.
Is there any way to know the type of endometrial hyperplasia. The doc that time gave her progesterone tablets.
Plus her latest ultrasound shows that there's a 6mm fibroid in her uterus and this month her periods are really getting delayed. Please reply

Dr. duPont can you please explain how HRT dosing can affect bleeding in menopause. I've heard some physicians change the estradiol dose while others change the progesterone dose, and yet others adding testosterone! Help!

I'm over 50, my doctor has advised that I get a hysterectomy due to thickening of my uterus lining and 2 6cm fibroids, is it wise to have a D&C procedure first before a hysterectomy? Appreciate any comments or insights 🙏🏼
