it was so interesting & stimulating to see a commentary online about this show which is not about its romantic angles, ships, fan edits, & so on. As a film enthusiast myself & as someone who loves reading the backstory & history of places &people, I found that angle in your video really intriguing. So glad I found your channel through the Gilmore Girls videos. Also, I would love to know your thoughts on Season 3 of this movie, because A LOT happens in that from a historical & plot point of view!

I lived on the OBX for 19 yrs. I challenge anyone to find a Plantation lol. Over 20 years ago There was a story line on the soap 'All My Children that had to with some of the actors getting ready to go down to the OBX on the train. Trains don't go to the OBX....not even close. Alligators? Please. I could go on but I won't.  Cracks me up

The thing that's wild for me is that because they didn't actually film at the outer banks, it's all shot in Mt Pleasant and Charleston SC...in my grandparents' neighborhood. Seeing so many historic places purposefully called by the wrong names is really jarring!

This makes me feel a lot better about my niece watching this show. Honestly from the bits I've seen I just thought it was another lame teen drama.

I haven't seen this show but I enjoy your explanation of it! I agree that understanding local history is important. I've tried to do my own research on my home county. It's a lot of work when the communities are small and not as well-documented! But still very cool.

See, yeah, the uncovering of clues and documents and putting everything together is really interesting, I appreciate you highlighting that, but why does it have to be surrounded by so much stupid behavior and melodrama in this show? And not even just from the teens, from most of the characters. It's hard to stick around for the smart parts when there's soooo much stupid to wade through. (But also, that one teacher who translated that one document from a lost Creole language gets no credit for his contribution to the treasure hunt? )
