I finally realized that bookshelves on stands take up as much space as floorstanders. I have floorstanders now.

Omg, its Sean! I miss these kind of chats.

I choose Dynaudio bookshelves due to room size. But the sound that emanates from them just make me smile.

I prefer slim towers because of the bass extension and you don’t need speaker stands to get the tweeters at the optimal height.

It is true that bookshelves on stands basically take up as much space as floorstanders.  There's probably a reason they don't call them "small speaker enclosures on a stand".  That said, bookshelf speakers are certainly more flexible in how they can be used.  But in an audiophile sense, I don't think it makes sense to compromise sound quality for size.  In that sense, floorstanders will always be better since they sacrifice size for extension and can be more sensitive.  But even if a floorstander takes up as much space as a bookshelf, sometimes small rooms just can't handle the sound output of a floorstander.  So I suppose, it depends on the room you're putting it in.

I like the way floorstanders fill the room with sound. Totally different from book shelves, which i listen to most, but i prefer the floors.

Bookshelf + SubWoofer: enough!

Sean the GOAT ! Love the collaboration. Great chemistry you two have

For 50 yrs, always had 2 way, bookshelf speakers, recently i went to the used market and got some 3 way, floor models from Wharfedale and suddenly my lowere tier system took on a different sound, more dynamic, clear and satisfying. Felt like my electronics had been handicapped by the speakers for decades.

I have always thought that a quality Bookshelf with nice stereo Subwoofers is the best of all worlds for a medium space. Best imaging with bass being filled in the room from Sub placement. I imagine as you get a bigger space, you would need to start going more power and tower speakers.

I am a longtime fan of you both. You two guys have terrific presentation synergy. Please consider doing some more videos like this one including equipment reviews. Also, I have been waiting years for a YouTube presenter to discuss this subject in detail, and you have done a great job. Thank you.🙏😊

I love my Raidho D1.1 with two REL S510s. Great combo

I agree that smaller narrow tower speakers are the sweet spot for my choice with a 2.5 way design.  I have gone through many book shelf and or stand mount speakers but of late switched to small tower speakers.   Love the sound, wide sound stage and dynamic abilities of the tower speaker.  Enjoyed the discussion, keep them coming!  Thanks

Now that I live in a house: floorstanders. When I was single and living in apartments w downstairs neighbors: bookshelf

2 1/2 way Tannoy floor standers - which I used to think had a pleasing level of bass. These were endorsed by Jay!  Added a REL T9 sub and now the system is even more pleasing. Don’t think I could ever do bookshelves again.

Ehhh! nice to see you guys up here!

Soooo glad I caught this collaboration with you guys! I hope you will do more of these in the future. Much respect for both of you. Good to see you Sean.

I think Jay is onto something, as I am rediscovering some large bookshelves like the Spendor 2/3 and Mission 770. The bigger-sized cabs just bring that extra authority and it's a cool look.

Nice as always love the to of you 😅 please make it more often
