I appreciate your humbleness but your channel is an institution. I learned so much from you

Daði, I've been a full time professional GM since before StartPlaying was a platform and have been doing this for more than a decade, which I think makes me ancient by professional GM standards. I don't even want to think about how many hours of RPGs I've run. In spite of that, you, Val, Bob Worldbuilder, and Matt Colville are the only channels that I not only still regularly learn from, but who I watch videos from as soon as possible after they're released. You are in fact very good at this GM advice stuff, and I regularly link to and chat about your videos with my community. I wish half the TTRPG designers out there understood the storytelling building blocks that you grasp and explain like it's second nature!

Ending a session on a cliffhanger is my go-to. Either cutting away to a scene the PCs can't see, but the players can, as combat is about to break out or after an important course of action is decided.

in my current not-shadowrun game, i pulled a cliffhanger on my players. They'd found a villains lair and while they took security precautions, they didn't think about the fact the guy might check his base security system (which they'd turned off). They took so long figuring out what to do while in there, that I had the session end with him waiting for them to leave and opening fire with a shot gun.
I got to enjoy an entire week of them wondering "who the fuck just got shot."

Oooh, Corkboard and Curiosities Shoutout!  She's an amazing channel for GM advice, but I've been liking your stuff too.  I'm very excited to use the keystone advice for my upcoming campaign.

Funny how you release this on D&D night, hours before I dm, after I've been considering this sessions cliffhanger

As much as I love your advice, I also love that you and so many other YouTube DMs compliment, shout out, and hype each other. It’s wonderfully positive and kind!

Interesting: I saw but didn't click this video with the other title, but clicked it this time with the second title.

You're welcome for my participation with YouTube analytics

I’ve been watching this channel for about 6 months and am a first time DM (our entire table is comprised of first time players). It was kinda miraculous that we managed to end the session perfectly as an important story beat happened and the players were about to roll for initiative. The cliffhanger happened by accident I did not track the time during the session much because we were all just having fun. A brilliant accident.

So if this is a sequel to a Corkboards and Curiosities video, and they clearly recast Val as Dadi. Does that mean Winnifred has been recast as A.B.?

Great timing, just as my current campaign comes to an end ...

...or is it?

0:52 im back. Pacing, go

Mystic Arts: End with cliff hangers!
Also Mystic Arts: Starts with ~last time on!~

Pacing is not about session ending with a cliffhanger. It is about managing tension and adventure not going too dull.

Corkboards & Curiosities shoutout!! She’s the best 💜

I adore your content AND truly appreciate your open support of other’s content in your videos. 💚

Thank you so much! Cliffhangers are a great tool but I don't like to overuse the same idea. Learning about a variety of types is really helpful to avoid them becoming repetitive.
Val's channel is one of my favourites but your explanations are clearer.

I make a point to end every session as though I'm closing a chapter or hitting a story beat. Sometimes this means a session goes 2.5 hours, other times it means 4 hours.

Omg one of my favourite new TTRPG creators mentioned my other new favourite TTRPG creator!!! I feel like both you and Val have such new and interesting advice for GMs and players; truly two sides of the same shiny new cinematic coin! I would absolutely love to see a collab someday, you both have such beautiful editing style it would be a treat to see them together!

i just watched the corkboards and curiosities vid last night, so this is perfect timing! <3
