How can we come to the point where we can think, "It can't be helped"?
In psychiatric practice, patients, their families, and supporters often ask, "How can I come to the point where I can't help it?" or "How can I accept it?"
This time, we will consider the feeling of "it can't be helped," touching upon the relationship between problem-solving and acceptance, the PDCA cycle, Kübler-Ross's "acceptance of death," psychoanalysis and cognitive behavioral therapy, and Buddhism, Christianity, and existentialism.
Organizing and visualizing problems and taking action is important. On the other hand, even if we understand it intellectually, our feelings may not catch up, and acceptance can be difficult.
Furthermore, being able to think, "It can't be helped," is slightly different from simply giving up. It is a feeling of accepting, to a certain extent, one's own weaknesses and foolishness, the imperfections of others, and the fact that life doesn't always go as planned.
Based on my clinical experience as a psychiatrist, my experience in the Self-Defense Forces, my studies in psychoanalysis and cognitive behavioral therapy, philosophy, religion, and my experiences through dialogue with people, I will discuss how to approach the feeling of "it can't be helped."
This video is intended to be helpful for those suffering from things they can't change, such as relationships, illness, work, family, and romance, as well as those who feel, "I understand it intellectually, but I can't accept it."
