Following the assassination of King Richard and the theft of the royal crown, England is in turmoil. Norman and Saxon feudal lords are fighting for supremacy in the country...

Defender of the Crown was one of the most elaborately designed strategy computer games of the home computer era. The game was conceived and programmed by Jim Sachs, and was the first product of the newly founded company Cinemaware. It was marketed by the British publisher Mirrorsoft. Defender of the Crown set new standards, particularly in terms of graphics. The Amiga version was the first to be released, exploiting the system's then-leading graphical capabilities.
