If you’re choosing between the Altra Olympus 6 and the Altra Lone Peak 9+, this video breaks down exactly how they differ. This is especially geared towards folks who need a wide toe box.
Lone Peak 9+ : https://amzn.to/4kChYX8
Olympus 6 : https://amzn.to/4cxBqCs
Both are zero-drop Altra trail shoes with a wide toe box — but they feel very different underfoot. The Olympus 6 is Altra’s max-cushion, ultra-distance shoe, while the Lone Peak 9+ is the classic versatile trail runner with more ground feel and agility.
In this comparison, I cover:
cushioning and stack height
weight and flexibility
grip and outsole differences
terrain suitability
👉 Quick takeaway:
Olympus 6 = comfort, protection, long miles
Lone Peak 9+ = versatility, feel, technical trails
If you’re deciding which Altra trail shoe to buy, this side-by-side test should help you choose the right one.

Gaiters are great for keeping stones and sand out of your shoe. That is where they really shine!!! I have never worn them for rain or snow conditions. The extra holes at the top are for lacing up a heel lock. I don't know what the holes lower down are for...
From listening to other reviews, the Lone Peak 9+ has the better Vibram sole than the Lone Peak 9. Lasts a lot longer according to reviews.
