I grew up going to Lake Superior Provincial park and plan on taking my son soon!

Watching this for the 4th or 5th time😅. It's very inspirational.

And the spruce forests and polished rock islands remind me of my own trips here in the outer Oslo fjord.

Next summer I'll definitely take more overnight trips.

Thanks for doing this.  I love kayaking.   I've done rivers and lake Michigan.  As you know the great lakes can be really cold in the summer, but you can get lucky and it will be warm.  I went kayaking off of Port Washington and was going along the coast.   The two views were amazing, the beautiful green coast and beach and wild blue great lake.    I started to go out farther in the lake and I think I went out about the breaker.  I was tempted to go out further and something told me not to.  
I was telling this story to a guy I know who fishes on Lake Michigan and he told me,  "do not go out to far" .  The great lakes can have nasty currents.  
Anyways,  I talked to this guy who said he went way, way out and he got slammed by a wave and knocked out of the kayak and couldn't get back in.
He hung onto to the kayak and somehow made it back in.   He was borderline on having hypothermia.
Right around the same time I heard about these guys on the news who went scuba diving on lake Michigan and they didn't set their anchor right and when they came up to the surface, their boat was gone.   Can you imagine?  
They had wet suits and had to try to swim to shore, they started to swim to shore,  the boat was off of Port Washington,  they swam for hours and hours and finally got to shore in Sheboygan,  33 miles away!!!!
They had to be taken to the E.R.
So, I'm talking to this guy this one day about this story on the news  and he says that was about him and his friend.   Thank God they were ok.
I used to live in San Diego and got into surfing.  Surfed both in San Diego and Baja.   i had a few times where i thought "this is it".

I came back to Wisconsin and realized that the Great Lakes, just like the ocean, doesn't  play.   Please enjoy them, but wisely respect them.

Its amazing that by your self you can take so many shots from different anglesmakes me think the amount if effort outside kayaking it would take

I've only done open sea once.. on lake huron using a paddleboard. Absolutely terrifying and it was a calm day. Knowing that a complete abyss is below you and the only thing that separates you from it is your boat is certainly something. This trip is definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing your adventures Ken! :)

Looks very nice, I may have to come down there for a paddle. Uh, always test your skeg after a beach. You also had the skeg still out when landing, not a great idea. Damaging the skeg on a multi-day trip is not great, obviously.

Traveling into Canada crossing Lake Superior going into Duluth that bridge would scare me to death, always had to close my eyes crossing!
