Motorhome Off-Grid Camping UK | One Wrong Turn Nearly Wrecked Our Van!
Motorhome off-grid camping in the UK takes an unexpected turn when one wrong route nearly damages our motorhome! Join us on this UK motorhome travel adventure featuring surprise singing waiters, wedding entertainment, pub stopovers, campsite reviews, motorway traffic and a roadside motorhome repair.
We travel from Llangollen in North Wales towards Somerset, stopping at beautiful locations along the way. But will we reach our second wedding venue without any more problems?
SURPRISE WEDDING ENTERTAINMENT AT TYN DWR HALL:
Our adventure begins at Tyn Dwr Hall, where I dress as a police officer and pretend to arrest the best man for speeding. The guests have no idea what's coming before our surprise singing waiters performance turns into a fantastic wedding party!
THE SUN INN, TREVOR: MOTORHOME PUB STOP:
After the wedding, we head to The Sun Inn in Trevor for food and an overnight motorhome stop. Our meal costs £22.90, and we enjoy peaceful views before continuing our journey. We also discuss the Brit Stops app for finding potential pub and farm stopovers. Always check current overnight arrangements with the venue before travelling.
CIRENCESTER PARK CAMPSITE REVIEW:
Heavy traffic on the M6 and M5 forces us to change our original plans. We visit Cirencester Park Club Campsite in the Cotswolds and explore its pitches, facilities, showers, nearby walks and food options. We also discuss campsite prices and the extra costs involved when plans change at the last minute.
ONE WRONG TURN NEARLY DAMAGED OUR MOTORHOME!:
The biggest challenge happens at Hidden Gardens near Taunton. A tight entrance, uneven ground and a confusing route towards the wedding venue lead to our motorhome grounding out. We discover scratches on the vehicle and damage to a panel underneath near the waste tank.
I use an emergency repair kit, including a clamp, screws and sealant, to secure the damaged panel temporarily so we can continue with the wedding job. This is the reality of motorhome travel: sometimes the unexpected becomes the biggest part of the adventure!
OFF-GRID MOTORHOME CAMPING AND AIR FRYER COOKING:
After our second surprise wedding performance, we settle down for an off-grid night alongside other campervans and motorhomes. I cook chicken tikka kebabs, flatbread and salad using the air fryer.
We also test our power bank, which drops from 85% to 44% after approximately 14 minutes of cooking. It's a practical look at off-grid camping, motorhome power consumption and cooking without a campsite electrical hookup.
