Can’t agree more ! Buy sealed for fun and the trill, buy single for investment

Besides buying in the offseason, I like targeting holy grail cards, like, say, Lebron, when his team is playing poorly or on the verge of missing the playoffs. Despite his HOF status, people overreact as if the card is a literal stock and the price will drop. Timing those things have helped in getting legendary cards for cheaper than max value.

A key niche I have found for grading is find the cards that are sub $20 raw but sell for $60-100 as a psa 10 and 30-40 as a 9. That niche is a good area to learn how to grade on relatively low risk cards, with a good % ROI for those that gem.

I'm still new to the hobby but this is super helpful! Appreciate you!

Best video on trading cards i saw on Youtube. You're also a good Youtuber performer.

I would just add..MAKE GOOD RELATIONSHIPS in the Hobby.  Don't just be a lone warrior.  When people know you and the kind of stuff you like, It helps both in finding good stuff and moving your stuff.  And people and dealers are more likely to work with someone who they genuinely know and like, and have a history with.  And that can work both ways.

Very good video.. wish I saw this my first year in 2019,lol.

Key word at heart of this thing...fun

I appreciate this video. It all rings so true to me. I got back into this about a year ago too. I’m very small scale, but trying to hustle a few cards to make
the hobby self-sustaining. I’m not there yet, but I’ve come a long way. I think an important point to make is that you have to spend money to make money. Spending money doesn’t mean you will make money, but it is often the case that higher cost singles have a higher ceiling for margin in the long run. They also have an implicitly higher risk if the hype doesn’t sustain.

Probably the best video I’ve seen and 1000% agree with all your points

"I think a lot of people have probably gotten in financial trouble buying sealed products...." Me: What idiots!?.... My credit card: Sit down please.

The exception to great player on bad team is Mike Trout.

Great vid - I have only been in the grading/slabbing game for about 6 months but have come to most of these same realizations.  About to take a fat stack of 10s to my first in person show and see how it goes!  Look forward to following your content.

I never comment ever. Dude you are awesome. Quick and to the point. You’re videos a great keep at it. Thanks for all the help. You deserve all the subs

Solid video. I appreciate it. Want to get into the hobby and you’re really the only one on yt I found that shares tips

Just came across this video in my feed. Really enjoyed it. Well thought out, practical, and makes a lot of sense. Just subscribed… Looking forward to seeing what other videos you have.

I don't usually waste my time watching the whole video because 90% of the people posting videos like this either don't know what they're talking about or they're usually trying to sell you some s***. You're honest, professional, intelligent, and you know what you're doing but most importantly you're not trying to sell me something or steal people's money buy giving a course or any other total water of time lol. I'm a vet and I been in the game/business for over 40 years collecting and now as a side hustle so I know that you know what you're talking about and everything you said was so true and accurate. The best video I've ever seen IMO. You're a good dude who is just honest and keeping real while giving out actually good, no great advice. Thank you for being a stand up guy and not like being everyone else. IDK about anyone else, but that means more to me. The fact that you're not trying to sell anything on top of you're giving out some really good advice to people, for free, is why this is the best video I've ever seen talking about the sports card industry. Thank you bro, for being yourself, real, honest, and just telling people the truth. If I was new or a first timer thinking about getting into the business I would probably not realize these things, but I'm not and I wish I would have seen this video years ago when I first got back into it. I started a kid collecting and had to learn everything you said the hard way unfortunately down to the don't buy wax and the hype train which I still don't understand but can't control. I will show this to any kids I meet and anyone I meet that is thinking about buying and selling cards and I will feel great knowing I'm just a good guy keeping it real passing on great info from another honest, great guy , YOU, and other than experience, it's some of the best info you could give them. Especially the young kids in their teens or early 20's who think it's all collectors and memerobilla. I wasted so much money in the beginning and there's no reason for that. Thank you man 4 real. If I can do something for you one day just hit me up and I'll do whatever I can to repay your honest advice out of respect brother.

Great video as someone who has been collecting for 10 years or so since I was in HS great advice for new collectors and present.

I FUKKIN LOVE YOU MAN
THIS VIDEO WAS PERFECT

This is a really good video. Thanks for posting.

You are spot on in your points. That's been my experience as well. I went from being a long-time collector to reseller in recent years and it's been a tough transition. I had to totally readjust my mindset. It is still a challenge because I like to keep and look at cards. I can relate to your other points as well. It's a work in progress for me.
