Amazing how despite the red flag period, CBS stayed on air the entire time and still did all the interviews instead of cutting off the broadcast to televise track and field!

Why do I get the feeling that IndyCar is about to announce something I don't like?

RIP Belle Isle.

I like KCBS-TV.

Love these older races.  Just insane that they used to send out the safety trucks onto the circuit while it was still green! Not to mention the corner workers. Brave brave folks.

11:18, I didn't know Micheal Waltrip was an indycar driver!

25:43 - Safety Worker: Quick, let's cut across the course before we're run over.

Enjoying the old races.

It's a rare race broadcast in which Pescara gets a mention; David Hobbs was actually in a Lotus Elite for the 4-hour World Sportscar Championship race held there in 1961.

Some classic Hobbo commentary!

The 10th and last race on the downtown Detroit circuit

Great upload. Thanks Indycar.

11:40 race start

yesss, keep posting old races!

Odd to hear Chris Economaki during an Indy broadcast.

40:14 David Hobbs expresses his misgivings about safety trucks -- later on in the race, this would prove prescient...

45:49 Is that Belle Isle? If so, how ironic is it that there is an aerial view of Belle Isle shown during a race on the City Centre Course?!

Version of this track has been made for Indy Car Racing 2 recently.

Vitolo's a huge fan of Newman/Hasse.

The Major League Baseball on CBS theme is heard in this video!

It looks such a good race track. Shame that the new proposed track cant be this big.
