Fun fact: the metal virus storyline was something Ian Flynn was cooking up for the Archie Sonic series but couldn’t do cause it got canceled so he repurposed it for IDW

1:26:53 OMG her heavy breathing I never noticed that before!!!! Adrenaline Dubs is so fricking goated on the details holy

It's kinda cool seeing him finally react to the darkest Sonic story after 7 years lol

This is also my first time seeing these comics and I have to say. This is peak

2:07:38: Sam actually went and got popcorn

OH NO WAY!!!! YOURE ACTUALLY REACTING TO ADRENALINE DUBS FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!

I saw this thumbnail And I was like: “YESSS HELLL YEESSS FINALLY!!!”

idk if this is a common thought, but to me tangle is very much the middle sister to sonic and tails duo! this has been a great refresher for me, love seeing you be introduced to IDW!

1:10:53 I remember when this came out. I was in 8th grade and had gotten all the issues up until then. I rode my bike to the local comic shop and got the issue and read it. And it was such an insane twist. I like all of IDW Sonic but issues 1-12 are the most nostalgic for me as after 12 life made it so I wasn’t able to get the newest issue as easily cause I wasn’t too busy to stop by the comic shop. I only have issues 1-12, and more recently all of the dc crossover comics. But yeah this arc specifically is incredibly nostalgic for me.

The comics are so PEAK dude (both IDW and Archie), they got me hyperfixated on Sonic out of anything other media in the series, including the games >:)

1:10:30 The people working on the IDW comics knew they had to  win over fans FAST after the Archie Comics were abruptly cancelled.
Making Neo Metal the first real villain and then following him up with the Metal Virus arc, probably one of the DARKEST stories in any Sonic media, definetly did the trick 😅

I also appreciate that they killed 2 birds with one stone here by also adressing why Metal was absent from Forces. The idea that Eggman was planning to unleash Neo as his ace up his sleeve, but didn't get the chance to complete his upgrade in time is scary cause with him he legit would have won

I hope this becomes a regular reaction series to this comic dub. I saw that Adrenaline Dubs is also doing Ian Flynn-era Archie comics too

"Well, took you long enough." - Qui-Gon Jinn

3:39:43 Sam looks at fan art. I have to admit I read the comics before but never watched the AdrenalineDubs. Glad I did now. They made the tone of the books so feel good even with the serious stakes from the Metal Virus saga. Also the timing of the Metal Virus saga a year before 2020 is...unfortunate.

I'm so glad you're watching adrenaline dubs!!

1:32:11 I never noticed this on my read through LMAO Tangle has a type

9:37 Ty Sam for the kind words and Ty all for the heart spam, I don’t deserve it but I appreciate it lots. Love the Sonic Idk comics so much, the art, the writing, the story’s.. so good! These dubs are so well done, very happy this is how I came across these comics. Glad these were around while we were in that dead season waiting for the next main game where things have gotten better now. 💙

I know I'm late, but I'm happy you got to see these stories for the first time. For the most part, they are great. I'd say the only issue was Shadow's characterization, as this was when the mandates were still firmly in effect. If you look at him from then up to now, you'll see a bit of a difference. While I still prefer Shadow in some of the older stuff, I think they have him in the right direction for the most part since 2024.

Sam is discovering an universe with this👍

Sam really enjoyed the first arc of idw. Which I call issues 1 - 12 the battle for angel island arc. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sam screams like crazy during the metal virus arc next time.
