I've never driven Cadwell Park before. I've never even properly driven it in a simulator. So naturally, I brought my 90hp Honda Civic there for a track day.
Cadwell Park is one of the UK's most famous and visually stunning circuits — a fast, narrow, old-school track packed with elevation changes, camber, blind corners and some seriously sketchy sections.
This was my first ever Cadwell Park track day, and rather than learning the circuit in a sim beforehand, I decided to experience it completely raw.
The plan was simple: learn the track, build confidence and see how quickly I could get my little 90hp Honda Civic track car up to speed.
What followed was one of the most hectic track days I've ever had.
We battle MX-5s, Minis and other low-powered track cars, chase faster cars, have some proper on-track battles, push the Civic closer and closer to the limit and inevitably collect a few battle scars along the way.
Cadwell Park is often described as the “Mini Nürburgring”, and after finally driving it myself, I can completely understand why. The elevation, camber and constant movement make it feel more like a roller coaster than a conventional UK race circuit.
But learning a completely new circuit isn't exactly easy — especially when you're trying to extract everything from a car with less than 100 horsepower.
So can a 90hp Honda Civic actually be quick around Cadwell Park?
And can I learn one of Britain's most challenging circuits from scratch and get anywhere near its limits?

Good driving like always
All the marshalls and staff are great.
It a thirsty place though.
The opposite in terms of elevation is blyton, but equally as fun in a "slow" car.
Civic engines can handle a lot of abuse, so you might not notice any problems immediately. But for long-term track use, and even for regular daily driving, I’d highly recommend at least an oil temperature gauge. An oil pressure gauge wouldn’t hurt either, but I’d say oil temperature is the most important one to monitor.
