How to fully dismantle and repair Makita HM0870C demolition hammers.

This video took a long time to do.
3 months waiting on parts from makita. But Im also to blame for the long wait as I should have just ordered the bearings from ‪@reliancebearingandgearco2533‬ from the start.
But, in the end it was still worth fixing, so the customer is still happy.

I miss the long repair videos. Don’t get me wrong, the short videos are good, but the long videos are just compulsive viewing.

Spare parts world is the site I also use to get parts. The fact that you can look for a part and they'll also give you all the other bits of kit it's used on is a godsend Dean.

That closed end sleeve bearing on the first hammer. I had one go on my Makita 2708 table saw, I found the bearing online from a supplier. The picture said for description purposes only, when it arrived it was open on both sides. I had no choice but to use a coke can and cut a disk to go in the housing, was only able to be done because of the lip stopping the bearing from coming too far out, so it wedged in nicely with a bit of superglue to hold it in place until the bearing pinched it against the housing. Out of sight out of mind until I saw you looking for a similar bearing. 🤣🤣🤣

With everything you've said about the Milwaukee tools and your good references on the Hikoki tools, I've now made a few of my friends converts and they are all very happy with the switch over.

Great video dean and yes I agree with your comments around Milwaukee. I know a lot of guys who have Milwaukee because they liked the extra speed and power from them. Until they started to go wrong and realized that they were looking at the cost of a new for just a switch. Some have converted to Makita XGT other are using hikoki. Personally I use a mix of Makita and hikoki. For a few reasons. Personally I've found the Makita saws and hammers to be a bit nicer but the drills, grinders etc... hikoki are nicer. The different batteries don't worry to much. Would be interesting to see different tests and breakdowns on some of Makita hammers and the Bosch hammers understanding they are all very different tools in their design

Hey Dean! Dunno if you noticed, but to take out the needle bearing and crank I found it easiest on the 0871 and 0870 to just take a screw and screw it through the crank. It does have a thread at the bottom and iis to be used for taking the crank out.
