I MISPELLED SIMPLE 2:27

I noticed my dev skills vastly improved when I attempted recreation. My methods obviously suck but it is a really good idea, even if the end result fails. Look at something in a game and think "Can I try to do that?". You'll quickly realise most games use simple systems.

It wasn't until recently that I felt like I could actually be a developer. Like most people I was in tutorial hell trying to learn blueprints and everything else. I felt like I was learning while I was following along but I wasn't really retaining much. Super evident when I would try to make something of my own. I was scoping my projects way too high. What helped me was entering game jams that are incredibly short. I'm talking 1 hour to a few days at most. Not sure exactly why that made it click for me but my theory is that I was forced to think about the smallest possible step. Do that. Then take the next smallest possible step. Now I'm locked in. I'm confident we'll both be great with Unreal. I actually built my current pc solely to learn UE. I say all this to say that I truly appreciate this video. Subscribed.

Things with complex topology like Sculptures or high poly count models need to be retopologized in order to be used in games and not hinder the performance.
