Early this morning, heavy rain suddenly poured down, forcing many people who were out for their morning exercise to rush home. Some were soaked from head to toe, and because the sidewalk had been completely overgrown with thick weeds, they had no choice but to walk along the road, exposing themselves to unnecessary danger.
When we heard about the situation, we drove for nearly an hour to reach the location. Unfortunately, the rain was still falling, so we patiently waited until it stopped before beginning our cleanup. Our goal was simple: to restore this sidewalk and give everyone a safe place to walk again.
The sidewalk was more than 4 meters (13 feet) wide, but years of unchecked vegetation had completely hidden it from view. What made matters even more difficult was that a nearby resident had tied ropes to the trees along the sidewalk to create a barrier. They had also planted rows of spiny pineapple plants that extended onto the sidewalk to keep cows out of their garden. We fully respected their property, so we carefully worked around the ropes and plants instead of cutting or removing them, even though it made the cleanup much more difficult.
One more thing we would like to apologize for is the audio quality in this video. A large excavator was working nearby throughout much of the cleanup, and together with the strong wind after the rain, it created a lot of background noise. We truly appreciate your understanding.
Thank you for joining us on another cleanup journey. Every small act of kindness can make our communities safer, cleaner, and more beautiful. We hope this video inspires more people to care for the public spaces we all share. Together, one sidewalk at a time, we can make a real difference.
