Charley Boorman has spent much of his life on the move. From growing up on his father John Boorman’s film sets to acting, racing motorcycles and travelling the world with his friend Ewan McGregor, adventure has been a constant thread.

In this conversation, Charley reflects on his father’s influence, his love of motorcycles, the beginnings of Long Way Round, recovering from two life-changing accidents and why there are still plenty of roads left to travel.

Never met him, but I really like this guy, seems genuine and humble, looks like a handy rider and is a genuinely talented presenter; top lad. Good cinematography.

In every interview I have ever seen with Charley, he comes across as one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. His life seems pretty cool, and good luck to him!

I was enjoying a pre-show drink at a Christmas Panto in the bar at the London Palladium a few years ago, and I turned to hear a voice I recognised. It was Charlie with what I assumed to be his family and he knew I had clocked him and we exchanged smiles, I knew instantly he was a top bloke, nothing was said or needed to be.

Surprisingly honest and humble, two virtues that seem to be lacking in today's society. You have my respect Sir, liked and subscribed.

Something about two wheels that gives you enough to think about while riding that stops you overthinking about the daily stress of modern life!

Keep doing your thing, Charley. You're a lovely chap.

He is a very genuine man. My wife & I met him at the Toronto bike show years ago when he was promoting the Long Way Road book. He is very modest and humble. He signed our book and he posed for a couple of pictures with my wife.

Good friends are worth more than diamonds. Coming home after a long ride is always hard.

100% right - riding a bike is therapy

Charle & Ewan changed motorcycling in a massive way. Adventure bikes went from niche to a phenomen because of Long Way Round. Anybody who watched wanted to be Charlie or Ewan. They created a legacy which you can see out on the roads over 20yrs later, can anyone else lay claim to that? I doubt it. And to top it off he comes across as a top bloke.

Can't help to tremendously admire and empathize with Charlie ! I love all the Long Way films ! I hope Charlie and Ewan continue to ride on epic adventures into old age...when they get old and wobbly, switch to adventure sidecars !

Lovely video Charlie. We all love your adventures through the years. You've inspired many of us to change the way we ride. I know you guys got me back off the pavement again. Do a bit of exploring.

I have the greatest respect for Charlie - I was lucky to meet him in Zambia whilst he and the LWD guys were heading south and I was heading north to South Luangwa game park on my KTM.

I love adventure riding and my life changed from an encounter I had earlier in Namib desert . Changed my life and fortunately it’s set the course to success ( happiness, money and love).

Anyway… pleased Charlie has done well .. he’s a good sort —- very envious of his Surrey Hills garage and all the tools —- hey Ho
