you know what I like about watching ride videos in more urban areas... seeing people just living their life by bike, going to the shops, going to work etc. it's really wholesome. where I live, I'd say like 80% of the bikes I see are either long distance road cyclists or bike packers (which is excellent don't get me wrong) but I loooooove seeing bikes that are clearly car replacements!

It's magical when the train runs alongside and scores you all the green lights 🥹

Soundtrack cranks the whimsy to 11

I love riding through industrial areas. It makes me feel like a kid taking a shortcut.

You're covering a lot of a regular commute that I make several times a week. Always fun spotting my landmarks :)

One tip about Racecourse Road at 4:20... When I'm riding that stretch, I take the first left after passing the freeway offramp and head down Parsons St. Much quieter, rarely come across any cars and there's speed bumps that prevent any you do encounter from driving too fast. And it's prettier than Racecourse Road with a lot more greenery.

You briefly rejoin Racecourse Road to get to the other side of the train tracks then immediately turn off  into the park on the left, which again uses a quiet back road to get you back on to the bike path at 4:30.

I'm loving the vibe of your videos, its like biking asmr to me !

I love riding the urban trails/paths, you really do get to see and experience so much more this way, we really do have some good infrastructure these days. My e bikes out of action and im waiting for delivery of a gravel bike, having some withdrawals!

YAY!!!!! for some reason your new video updates were beating my algorithm. Happy to be back on it

There's a stretch along Regents Canal that goes through London Zoo. I remember spotting wolves the first time I rode through and it totally blew my mind! The last time I rode through we were surrounded by monkeys. Totally bonkers! You get that kind of madness a bit more regularly if you walk or cycle. It makes a journey so much more memorable.

10:30 re: mapping I find Komoot has a great, very customisable route planner. You can select for the quietest route, most scenic route, quickest route, etc. and by default the route planner is much more likely to avoid busy roads than Google Maps.

What a wonderful trip Elsie. It's crazy to see palm trees in one shot and people in winter coats in the next clip. It's 33c in the states here. The bicycle is the perfect speed to explore your world.

I'm one of them people you mentioned who just likes watching cycling videos. I find them relaxing. As long as theirs no expensive bad language. But your videos don't which is good. Keep up the good work

That area that had the construction previously looks really good now! Nice and open.

I definitely agree about exploring by bike. It’s really great to experience and be in new places on two wheels vs behind a windshield. Great video as always 🤙🏼

I miss cycling in Melbourne now I've moved away 😭

Komoot can be another good route planning app 👍

Love your vids , when riding through town all your senses get used , hearing the sounds, smelling the air , flowers or food cooking ect. Feeling something you see,  tasting like stoping at a local food truck or a little pastry shop, and the biggest seeing all the little things you just don’t notice from a vehicle . Cheers

I just got back from riding from Coburg to Hawthorne East and back, there's a suspended bike trail under the M1 motorway, makes you feel like you're taking a secret passageway.

And yeah, totally vibing with everything you're saying. You can hear, see and smell so much more of your surroundings than in a car. It makes me feel far more connected to the city. Industrial areas are so much more interesting to ride through as well. One time I rode through Port Kembla in NSW, which oddly has a great bicycle path through it, and it was really cool.

The amount of bike paths you have in Melbourne make me so envious!

as someone who lives (and rides) in Melbourne's outer west, it's great to see you giving love to the bike infrastructure out here. looking forward to seeing the videos you make on the bay trail west out to altona meadows, and the federation trail out to wezza!!

P.S. agree with your sentiment about riding up the bridge at 8:57, it's way more fun going down that bit!

I like the music you put in this video and many of your previous ones too. I've done a lot of bicycle touring over the years and often thought of it as bushwalking for impatient people. Applying that to the urban landscape too! Thanks!
